Ramen Isshin
Rated #1 in Toronto, come experience Toronto's best ramen in town
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Ramen Isshin. The appetizers were outstanding, and the broth was incredibly rich, deep, and full of flavor.
As my son - who has visited Japan many times - perfectly said, “This is the restaurant that brings you back to real Japan.” That truly captures the feeling of the place.
The staff were exceptionally friendly, warm, and welcoming, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere from the moment we walked in.
We will definitely be coming back again. Highly recommended!
I have eaten ramen at so many different restaurants in the GTA and abroad that I have lost count. I do however remember the most memorable ramen soups I have eaten. The “Red Dragon” made by Ramen Isshin is absolutely magnificently delicious. I added a bunch of extras like I do with most ramen restaurants. The “Red Dragon” is in my top 3 ramen soups, I love it!. Super spicy with pork and chicken chashu, bean sprouts, bamboo, seaweed, scallions, eggs etc. All I can say is WOW. Thank you so much for offering a ramen soup with such a complex flavour profile. If you love spicy then you will love the “Red Dragon”.
Just came back from Japan less than a week ago and was missing/craving ramen so we thought we would give Ramen Isshin a try. The ramen had a good springy chew to it, the broth had good flavour depth, and the chicken karaage and age tofu were very tasty though the prices is not cheap. The night we went, the place was staffed with all Japanese staff so that reminded us of our time in Japan however the restaurant was extremely, beyond loud…so loud that I could barely hear the conversation at my own table! For that reason, I can only give 4/5
Really enjoyed Spicy Veggie Miso Ramen and the broth was rich and flavorful(it's not that spicy).
The only thing I didn’t love was the wok-fried ground tofu. It was a bit too chewy for me. I think it would be nice to have an option to choose between ground tofu and regular tofu, since a softer tofu would soak up the broth really well.
Overall, still a solid bowl of ramen and a place I’d definitely come back to.
Atmosphere rated 4/5 because the music was slightly too loud and I would have preferred a physical food menu, since the drink menu was a physical one.
The pork in my ramen was cooked to perfection. I had the gyoza and Kotteri Rich Shoyu ramen. They were both delicious.
Food arrived incredibly quickly after ordering. Staff were attentive and friendly.
I had the hibiscus yuzu soda to drink and I would recommend.
Great place, would love to come back if I had more time here.
I’m not sure what separates good ramen from bad ramen, but Ramen Isshin is very, very good. They have limited appetizers, but we tried the chicken karaage and the oyako cream croquettes, and both were excellent. We had the red miso both nights with an egg and ground pork added at an extra charge. Service was very fast and efficient and the staff was friendly.
Today I tried the spicy red miso ramen at Isshin Ramen. As with most ramen locations, no condiments were on the table. With that being said, I was certainly surprised when I took my first taste of the soup broth.
The soup was very tasty and thick. I could taste the quality and attention to detail in the subtle flavours of the broth.
The ramen came with bean sprouts, carrots, onions, wood ear mushroom, and chives that were wok fried plus a good amount of green onion slices. Lastly two slices of cha shu pork.
The spice level of the soup could have been hotter for me but still enjoyable. I would say the level was light to medium in heat.
The wavy noodles were chewy and picked up the taste of the soup very well. I will certainly be back to try other ramen dishes in the future.
This ramen shop has a great selection of appetizers like tako wasabi and age tofu to name two.
Overall, great ramen and an excellent selection of dishes to choose from.
Well worth the visit.
The restaurant wasn't busy when we were there around 12:30pm on a Sunday. We ordered 4 different kinds of ramen and an order of cream croquettes. The croquettes were very hot but the filling was a little runny. Out of the 4 ramen bowls, the black sesame tan tan was the best. The tomato soup in a stone bowl dip noodles was just alright. The other 2 were not bad. Service was good.
We started with the chicken karaage. It had a nice thin crispy skin. The inside was very juicy. Just wish they gave more than just simple Kewpie as the dip. A garlic dip would have been nice!
The Red Dragon was very flavorful. It reminded me of Chinese flavors with the spices. It was savory and packed a nice punch. My favorite was the garlic roasted shoyu. The broth was beautifully creamy and rich. The Cha shu melted in your mouth. The noodles had a great chew and bounce to them.
Service was quick and friendly.
It's not my favorite ramen spot on College, but it was still very good!
