Awful service.
Decided to go at Denny's late at night (2am) for some coffee, waffles and eggs while getting the usual Denny's experience.
Instead I got treated like a dog.

-First they put a barricade at the entrance where the waiter takes your order and makes you pay right away (including the tip of course) before he lets you through and be able to take a seat.
I kind of understand... It's night, you want to be safe...so whatever... I wouldn't have paid too much attention to that if it wasn't because it just kept escalating on how awful the service was.

I was expecting to be served food on an actual dish like a normal person rather than just being thrown some takeout containers, and not only that but the guy got me the wrong takeout which I told him right away.

And my last complain is that I didn't got served my coffee until the end of my service when I already finished my food, and on top that my coffee was late, it tasted awful. Now sure you can make the excuse that "It takes time to brew" but you're telling me it takes longer than it takes to cook AND eat a meal than to brew a single cup of coffee?
And when I decided to take my leave and ask for a lid for my coffee, the waiter instead of handing me the lid, he decided to over reach and put the lid himself to a coffee I was already holding in my hands, it made me cringe with disgust because not only was he touching all of the borders of the lid but it just felt insulting...I don't know maybe I'm just reading too much on that final gesture but it truly felt disrespectful.

Now I'm usually a person who thinks that a tip has to be earned with good service rather than just expected to be paid no matter what. I feel that the fact that they make you pay for the meal and tip at the start of the service have made them used to treating late night customers like trash without affecting their pockets.

Would never return, if this is the kind of treatment you're going to give late at night you might as well close it than doing a 24/7.

JD is the best, she took care of us like a boss. Great service, warm and good food. If you like Denny's, this is a must. Very good. Something must be done with the washrooms though. Some background music would be appreciated. Food always good.

Went to the Yonge and Sheppard location . Terrible service , the manager was not even on the floor to support a half empty restaurant. My friend walked across the mall to get parking validated cause they had no idea on validated parking . The menus were so disgusting and outdated to the website . The waitress said she would come by and we couldn’t get her attention for more than 15 mins . I’m so glad we just walked out

Had a fantastic experience at Denny’s! The food was fresh, delicious, and exactly what I was looking for. I ordered the grilled chicken with broccoli and mashed potatoes, and it was a great high-protein meal.

A special shoutout to our server (forgot his name but slim indian guy with glasses), who clearly had gym and nutrition knowledge. Instead of just taking the order, they recommended high-protein, lower-calorie options and even explained a few healthier substitutions. That level of service really stood out and made the experience even better.

Friendly staff, clean restaurant, generous portions, and excellent customer service. I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m looking for a satisfying, fitness-friendly meal. Highly recommended

On Saturday morning of June 13 2026, my friends and I had an extremely disappointing experience at Denny’s on Dundas Street. We were a party of six Black customers who came in looking forward to enjoying a meal together, but instead left feeling embarrassed, humiliated, and unwelcome.

From the outset, our waiter had an aggressive and confrontational attitude toward our table. We were simply laughing and talking amongst ourselves when we were abruptly told to “shut up” and stop talking. We found this incredibly rude and unprofessional. We respectfully explained that customers should be spoken to with courtesy and that there was a more polite way to address us.

Rather than handling the situation professionally, the waiter returned to our table approximately two minutes later and told us that he could not serve us and that we needed to leave the restaurant. We were stunned. At no point were we being threatening, abusive, or disruptive. We were simply having a conversation and enjoying each other’s company.

Being asked to leave in front of other guests was humiliating and deeply upsetting. As all six members of our group were Black, we left feeling targeted and questioning whether we were treated differently because of our race. The entire experience gave us the impression that we were not welcome there.

No customer should be made to feel singled out, disrespected, or publicly embarrassed while dining out. We hope management takes this matter seriously, reviews what occurred, and ensures that all guests are treated with the dignity, respect, and professionalism they deserve.

We will not be returning as we were blatantly racially discriminated against by Denny’s and their staff.

The food was quite nice, but the service was incredible!

They only serve in takeout containers & with disposable cutlery after 10pm which wasn't ideal, but I still enjoyed my food - a Slam sandwich with add-on pancakes, and a strawberry milkshake.

Kash was really helpful with menu suggestions, & was also patient and attentive. And thank you too James in the kitchen - great job!

I tried the maritime special and the t bone steak, they were both good overall, but the steak lacked a bit of flavour. They definitely have a great menu with good variety so I would go back to try something else.

Found this diner whilst in Toronto, as I had been to Denny’s in US. Staff are pleasant and the food arrived quite well. This isn’t quite I remembered Denny’s isn’t the same US experience.

The cola tasted like chlorine, the soup was bland with bones and a few pieces of vermicelli rather than proper noodles, and the chicken sandwich was very poorly made. I do not recommend it, the food was bad. The waitress noticed that we barely ate anything, yet she didn’t even ask if everything was okay or what had happened.

Visited Denny's tonight for dinner. The food was delicious and more than enough, and our server JD was absolutely lovely and very attentive. She made the experience even better.

Although we're only here on holiday, we'll definitely come back if/when we can!

My first time at Denny’s and it was absolutely great. Janhavi aka JD was very attentive and provided a fabulous service.She brought my food out with love and made sure I was taken care of . She even gave us a manager discount. I will definitely come back.

We went to Denny’s during our first NHL game weekend and had a fantastic experience. Our waiter, Khan, was incredibly friendly, polite, and attentive from start to finish. As a picky eater, I really appreciated that my food came out exactly how I requested — perfect! Thank you, Khan, for starting our morning off on such a pleasant note in downtown Toronto.

I highly recommend coming here, and if you do, ask for Khan — you won’t regret it!
