A deeply disappointing experience at Sushi Masaki Saito. Our meal cost over $2,000, yet I found the food mediocre at best and the pacing painfully slow. We arrived around 5:40 p.m. and left around 8:50 p.m., spending over three hours at the restaurant. One chef prepared each piece of sushi individually for eight guests, repeating the process for each of the ten pieces served per person. At other omakase restaurants I’ve visited, one chef served two to four guests, and the pacing felt much smoother.

By the end, most guests were on their phones and barely talking to each other. For me, the drawn-out pacing had drained the evening of energy.

The experience felt like “The Emperor’s New Clothes”: the reputation and enormous price tag created an expectation that everything should be described as extraordinary, but what I actually experienced did not live up to that expectation.

When I raised my concerns afterward, the restaurant said it had reviewed footage of the service and cited my polite responses to the server as evidence of satisfaction. They also attributed my disappointment to an apparent disagreement with my father during dinner. My father was himself unhappy with the food and pacing, which was the context of that exchange. I found their response dismissive and unnecessarily personal.

I appreciate the craftsmanship involved, but the food, overall experience, and handling of my complaint simply did not justify the price. Save your time and money.

Had a really enjoyable experience at Misaki. Overall, it had a quiet, clean, and welcoming atmosphere.

Our server was super welcoming, gave really good recommendations, and was very attentive. The food was really fresh and came out quickly.

All I can say is wow! What a wonderful and intimate experience we had at Sushi Masaki Saito, located in beautiful Yorkville. This place far exceeded our expectations and we were very pleased with the quality of the ingredients and the expertise of the chefs. If you’re looking for a truly unique dining experience I highly recommend this place.

The food is good; I don't eat raw food and have eaten a lot this time. I prefer Saito's personality; I noticed it on social media before. The waiter and manager spoke averagely and were not very pleasant, but Saito was very good.

Sushi Masaki Saito is simply outstanding. The Omakase experience is exceptional, with every piece of sushi crafted from the freshest fish and premium Niigata rice. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and the presentation is beautiful. The atmosphere is intimate and elegant, just like a traditional Tokyo sushi bar. Service is attentive and informative, making the meal feel personal and special. Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Toronto – worth every penny.

Amazing experience! The service and food were both spectacular. I can’t say enough good things and although it maybe expensive, it’s very very good. Definitely worth it! The sake, the sushi, the experience, all things I would go back for. Be sure to check it out when you have the chance!
