Aloette Restaurant

Opened in 2017. Michelin-recommended since 2022. Aloette Spadina is the neighbourhood bistro as imagined by the Alo Food Group. It's where our taste for haute cuisine meets cravings for cheeseburgers and lemon meringue pie. Aloette is open daily for dinner, lunch on Fridays, and brunch on weekends. Walk-ins are always encouraged. Reservations are available via OpenTable and DINR for same day availability.

elevated modern diner vibes with their booth & counter seating and their open-ish kitchen, and quite attentive service, and while the food is definitely yummy, i’m not sure it lives up to its many michelin awards and its price.

truffle burger was much better than the aloette burger imo — the block of cheese on the aloette burger lOOKS like it would be sensational, but honestly i could not really taste or even feel it in the burger? it also got cold quite quickly. the truffle burger was placed on a hot sizzling plate with a creamy sauce though, so it was steaming when we had it. it had a strong, earthy truffle and mushroom flavour and the soft brioche bun was a bit sweet. the patties were quite thick and juicy as well, and there was a strong charred taste from the sear.

the fries were amazing though, maybe some of the best i’ve had. they were definitely on the saltier side, but the tangy and slightly sweet aioli balanced it out nicely. they were thin and crispy, but a bit cold. the cheese bread had a salty, crunchy, savoury cheese top, but otherwise didn’t taste super fresh and was also a bit cold. the butter was very smooth, light, and airy though, and it was like a mousse.

we tried their famous lemon meringue pie too, and it was much better than i expected (as someone who doesn’t love meringue or lemon pies). the lemon part is definitely veryyyyy sour and bright, but it’s made more palatable by the biscoff-like crumbly pie crust and the toasted meringue, which was like some super fluffy and smooth s’mores marshmallow fluff.

Fantastic. Lovely staff, excellent food and drinks and reasonably priced. My favorites were the stuffed Olives and the scallop crudo. Will definitely come back next time I'm in Toronto.

What a charming and intimate restaurant!

My favourite was the classic Aloette Wedge Salad, it was not only stunning but definitely lived up to the hype.

Service was also amazing and the atmosphere was warm.

Side note: I need a link to their playlist asap 🔥

The food was great, and we especially enjoyed the salad, cake, Korean fried chicken, and burger.

The only downside was the service time and seating. Our food took quite a while to arrive, and the seating wasn’t particularly comfortable. Dinner ended up taking nearly two hours, which felt much longer than expected.

We ordered the asparagus tempura too but they didn't bring it which we found funny 😂

Loved the cozy vibe and playlist here. We were well-positioned to watch the chef at work, firing orders and inspecting every plate. Each dish was executed perfectly, and we really enjoyed our meal. Maria was a very warm host. I came ready to try the candied beets and shrimp and lobster fritters, but she upsold me the Easter prix fixe menu. It was absolutely worth it. Each bite had finesse, the flavours were balanced. Thank you for making our experience a pleasant one - it helped ease the pain from the loss of our baseball game last night.

This is a quaint restaurant at 163 Spadina ...more of an upscale diner. It has diner booths and diner stools along a long bar. Its fairly small. The food was okay. The fish was a bit over cooked and not glistening or flaky. The Aloette burger is basically a slightly larger slider. The fried chicken was bland. Our drinks took twenty minutes on two separate occasions. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

The worst part of our experience were the extremely hard bench seats. They were so uncomfortable and solely because of the lack of comfort we would not go back.

Four of us sat in a booth and I loved how intimate the seating was. Even though it was busy, it was easy to talk and hear everyone in the group. We had reservations for a Friday evening. Sharing dishes is the best way to taste the menu. The cocktails were perfectly presented and strong. Everything we tried was delicious and bursting with flavour. I am not a fried chicken fan in general and I wouldn't get that again.

We came for an early dinner before a concert. Our table was ready and we were quickly seated and reading the menu. Cocktails arrived soon thereafter. As part of the Alo group of restaurants we had high expectations and frankly there was nothing they could have done to make the experience better. The food was great. The service was impeccable. And there were no surprises.

We didn’t have a reservation today, and this place is usually super busy, but luckily we came early and managed to get seats at the bar. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming.

We ordered two brunch cocktails—mine was on the sweeter side, while my friend’s had stronger alcohol and mint notes. Both were really refreshing and perfect for the morning. My shakshuka was solid, but my friend’s steak and eggs were honestly the best we’ve ever had. They paired it with these little flatbreads as the carb, so you could wrap the steak in them—it actually felt a bit like eating Chinese dumplings🥟

Alouette Restaurant offers a cozy, intimate environment paired with a carefully selected menu that feels thoughtful and well executed. We especially loved the beef tataki, which was flavorful and well balanced, and the triple cooked fries, perfectly crispy and indulgent. The stuffed olives were a bit too acidic for our taste, but still interesting. The lemon meringue pie is absolutely beautiful and a showstopper visually, though it leaned very sour for us. Overall, a charming spot worth visiting for its atmosphere and standout savory dishes.
