Brodflour

brodflour was founded in 2017 with one simple goal: to give people the license to enjoy bread again. Good, fresh bread doesn’t exist without good, fresh flour. So, to achieve our goal, we’ve changed the way flour is harvested, milled, and baked. At brodflour, we work with the grain, rather than against it. We place fresh at the centre of everything we do, making sure each of our products is alive and packed with nutrients—from the farm, to the mill, to your mouth.

This place deserves more than 5 stars: friendly staff, freshest inventory ever, great vibes and delicious coffee/matcha offerings. I’ve been coming for 6 years and am never disappointed! Line ups on the weekend are worth it because even if they sell out of one thing, it’s an invitation to try something else. All made in house. So impressive !!!

Had the smoked salmon sandwich on a Jerusalem bagel, and it was outstanding. The combination of the excellent bagel, house-made labaneh, pickled onions, and capers was absolutely delightful. After this, I never want cream cheese on my smoked salmon sandwich again!

I also tried the seasonal ramp walnut pesto scroll (available in May). Unfortunately, I was expecting a stronger garlicky ramp flavor, but it was quite subtle and didn’t really come through.

Came right at opening because the sticky toffee pudding danish went totally viral on insta. the crowd was insane and there was a huge line, but i managed to grab some! turns out they only sell 75 a day on weekends (max 2 per person). it has rum in it so the flavor profile was super unique. a bit too sweet for me personally, but definitely something special. if you have a massive sweet tooth, you’ll love it. lowkey i preferred the strawberry danish though, it was so fresh and tasted better to me!

My initial experience with this place was great - even with the long lines. Absolutely loved the bread and dough they make in house. I tried their sticky toffee pudding danish, smoked salmon sandwich, among other pastries - excellent. Two weeks after, I came again and I wanted to grab the sticky toffee danishes for my birthday party to share with friends and let them know about my new favorite bakery. I brought my brother with me as he was giving me a ride from the other side of Toronto (far east) and was gushing about Brodflour and how good it was - we came early and waited for them to open during a rainy morning. I wasn’t aware that there was a limit of two sticky toffee danishes per person - the limitation isn’t written anywhere in their insta page or their website and I wanted 4 in total. I don’t mind as the owner explained that they only make a certain amount per day and my brother also wanted to grab a couple of items for himself and his family so I asked him to pick up two sticky toffees as well. The owner wouldn’t give him the sticky toffees as he understood that he’s my brother even though he was ordering and paying separately - he acquiesced after my brother questioned why he would limit him as he was a separate customer and gave him only one. I wasn’t aware of this as I had moved on to the waiting area to wait for my coffee. Please do enjoy this place - the flour they make and use for their pastries and sandwiches is excellent but I will not be coming back after my brother was disrespected. The taste of the pastries I bought for my party tasted different and bittersweet after that experience.

We finally made it to Brodflour after seeing them on YouTube, and it lived up to the hype! Arriving right at opening on the weekend was a smart move—we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere before it got so busy.
The Smoked Salmon Sandwich was incredibly fresh, and the Lemon Poppy Seed Knot had a delightful, refreshing citrus kick. I also tried The Swiss, which was decadent with its rich custard and chocolate chips—a must for pain au chocolat fans!
Beyond the bread, the latte was exceptionally smooth and beautifully made. The industrial-chic vibe of the bakery makes it such a cozy place to start the day. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to try more of their freshly milled goodness!

This bakery deserves all the hype it gets and more! So cute inside, the workers were very kind and helpful. We ordered the famous pain suisse with vanilla and chocolate filling 🤤 which was absolutely divine, it tasted like a Montreal croissant - buttery yet light, and we also got the famous cardamom knot. The knot was so soft and delicious, it has a unique flavour profile incorporating both spice (the cardamom) and sweetness from the sugar on top, I really loved this one as well. If you do not like sweet pastries the cardamom knot is the pastry for you! All in all this place has potentially the best croissants in all of Toronto and some other delectable pastries which we will be back for ASAP!!

I was thrilled with my first visit to this unique bakery that mills their own flour on location! I was eager to taste their sourdough bread from fresh milled flour. I ordered a Classic Hearth and Classic Pan Loaf and they were so hearty and delicious. I got the pre-sliced loaves which were still warm!

I instantly loved the colour and textures of the sourdough bread. I had a slice of each with a slab of French grass-fed butter so I could enjoy the rich taste of the bread. Toasting the slices also brought out the flavours. And it is so delicious for my avocado & fried pastured egg toast!

I am equally excited about the health benefits of their freshly milled flour. The nutritional benefits of this non-commercial flour is how I found Brodflour Bakery and why I made a special 2 hour trip there.

The research I’ve found on “real flour” is truly inspiring especially knowing this is how our ancestors ate bread before flour was commercialized and removed essential vitamins and minerals to make it more shelf stable.

Brodflour freshly mills their flour in a handmade granite stone mill so it retains natural nutrients and oils of the Bran, Germ and Endosperm of the whole wheat berry. These three elements are rich in fibre, healthy fats, vitamins B and E, minerals like iron, zinc, magnesium and antioxidants and enzymes, folate, complex carbs and protein.

I’d like to think freshly milled flour is a Superfood! Based on my research it provides 30 to 40 of 44 essential nutrients and 3 to 5 times more nutrient dense than commercial flour. Plus it’s definitely more delicious!

Can you tell nutritious bread is a passion for me?!! 😆❤️

The staff at Brodflour were very friendly when I arrived at 9:30am on a chilly weekday. The line up was short but quickly grew after I got my bread. I loved the warm vibe of the bakery and look forward to trying their many sweet and savoury baked goods next time! Highly recommend this bakery!!!

Great quality pastry & tremendous variety, good bread. Crowded on the weekends so plan accordingly. Decent coffee. Almond croissants are too good & are available only on weekends. Pain Suisse is great as well. Limited space, no proper dining space available so gets a bit tricky during winter.

High quality food and beverages for a shockingly reasonable price. I’ve tried many of their pastries such as the butter croissant, chocolate croissant, chocolate babka, cardamom knot, cookie, brownie, ham & cheese croissant, focaccia. Across the board, they are all very good. Their bread is also amazing and has a unique taste because they mill their own flour.

Their standout items in my opinion are the rotating seasonal danishes (not pictured). Note the danishes are only available on weekends! However, be prepared to wait in line. The service is friendly and quick though.
