Masa Deli & Cafe is located at 985 Dovercourt Rd in Toronto , ON and serves great food and drinks in Toronto
Masa Deli, a humble sandwich shop best known for its loaded breakfast burritos, Latin-inspired tortas, and classic corned beef melts.
This spot is such a neighborhood gem that part of me wants to gatekeep it - but it’s just too good not to share. We had the Torta de Milanesa, packed with a juicy breaded chicken cutlet, refried beans, guac, Swiss, pickled jalapeños, lettuce, and salsa, all tucked inside a soft bun that didn’t shred the roof of your mouth. The sandwich compressed just enough to get the perfect bite every time. My friend was literally speechless - he was in a food trance.
I had the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito, and it was everything I want in a burrito: cheesy scrambled eggs, chicken chorizo, crispy tallow-fried tots, refried beans, guac, corn crema, and pickled jalapeños, all tightly wrapped in a tortilla that was pressed until golden and crisp. Every bite was warm, hearty, and deeply satisfying.
The vibe of the place is super local and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. Prices were more than fair, especially for the quality. I’m already planning my return to try the rest of their breakfast menu.
Update: I also had the breakfast sandwich on another visit and it’s probably the best one out there in my opinion. The stack of sausage and fluffy scrambled eggs is insane. Love the pickles too. A two-hand sandwich. It’s so good I’m definitely coming back for this one.
Masa Deli on Dovercourt is a true hidden gem and a shining example of why local, family-run spots are the heart of Toronto’s food scene. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the comforting aroma of freshly prepared dishes and the kind of warm, genuine hospitality that makes you feel instantly at home.
This place is beloved for good reason — the food is outstanding.
Grabbed a sandwich and coffee for a quick lunch. The deli burrito turned out yummy. I liked the pickles giving it a bit of variety/refreshments to the taste. I was so curious when I saw the hot sauce everywhere... Glad they gave me some for my take out! It was good, I'll probably go again just to buy the hot sauce home.
Went in for the Special that I was seeing all over instagram. Had a slight delay in service however I later learned that it was a training day for new employees.
The sandwich I got tasted great, awesome flavours and good ingredients, but it was
slightly small for the price, ~$20 for the sandwich pictured.
Got the egg and sausage breakfast sandwich and a tangerine orange juice to go. Sandwich looked absolutely amazing at first sight and smelled even better. The taste was ok. The pickles threw me off a bite as did the hot sauce. I would’ve prefer to add my own hot sauce to it because at times it was too spicy. The eggs were good and perfectly cooked. The sausage I felt could use more flavour, like salt. I like a salty patty to go with the eggs and bread. And this patty was just too unsalted for me. Kinda overpriced tho. But I would go back again and try their burrito.
**Update**
Went back 2 more times and got the sausage & egg sandwich without salsa, and it really does make a big difference. The salsa for me was too spicy and overwhelms the sandwich, but without it you can taste the sausage patty which is so good a bit sweet which was nice. And if you're missing the acid you still get the pickles. So no need for hot salsa in my opinion.
A delicious, local deli spot! We ordered two iced horchata’s and a chorizo breakfast burrito, and they were both fantastic. The taste was amazing- great quality food and the salsa is a unique show-stopper. The staff was very friendly and answered our questions, the portion sizes were great (and price is aligned), and there are a few sit-down options (only a few though). I also appreciate that they kindly request no laptops on weekends - speaking to the vibe and atmosphere they cultivate. Definitely worth the visit!
We had their everything bagel sandwich & chorizo burrito, you could tell its freshly made because the juice from the sausage just oozes out from the sandwich. You top with their homemade hot sauce and it’s **chefs kiss**
This is probably the BEST breakfast sandwich in my life, not to exaggerate but it’s really that good! The hype is well deserved and definitely worth to come by and visit if you can!
We came on Saturday morning and ordered 2 sausage and egg breakfast sandwiches and 1 chorizo burrito. Everything was fresh and so delicious! The sausage and egg was the perfect breakfast sandwich, the chicken sausage was perfection. I don’t usually like breakfast burritos but this was SO GOOD! Will definitely be coming back soon!
