Wanas Shawarma is located at 449 Danforth Ave in Toronto , ON and serves great food and drinks in Toronto
Wanas is the real deal. The Syrian-style chicken shawarma is juicy and full of flavour. They grill it until it's crispy, then wrap it tight with garlic sauce, pickles and fries. It isn't greasy and it isn't sloppy, it's just done right. The garlic sauce alone is worth the trip.
It's quick, the price is fair, and the staff are friendly even at the dinner rush, when the line goes out the door for good reason. If you're anywhere near Broadview or Chester, skip the chains and walk over. Get the wrap, add extra garlic sauce and thank me later.
I got the Syrian shawarma today to go but I wasn’t blown away like I hoped. There wasn’t that many pickles or toppings, it was mainly just the chicken and garlic sauce. That part was good but I definitely missed the fresh veggies. I would not get that again,
Solid shawarma offering Syrian style wraps. Came on a Monday night and it got really busy after us at around 8:30pm. Luckily we got a seat for 4 people.
I ordered the chicken Shawarma Plate with half fries and rice. I also got the chicken Shawarma wrap to share. Plate was really good and good portions. The wrap was really ncie Syrian style, but I would not be full.
Highly recommend and would come back.

I recently visited Wanas Shawarma with a friend. After we finished eating, we noticed multiple bugs/flies around our table. One of the bugs actually ended up inside my friend’s yogurt drink, which was very concerning.
When we brought it to the staff’s attention, the cashier was very polite, respectful, and tried to help. Unfortunately, another employee (a tall blond gentleman with glasses) handled the situation very poorly. Instead of apologizing or showing concern, he questioned us about how the bug got into the drink, laughed during the conversation, and walked away while we were still speaking to him. His attitude made the situation much worse.
I understand that mistakes can happen in any restaurant, but customer service and professionalism matter. Finding a bug in a drink is already unacceptable, and being treated dismissively afterward was disappointing.
I hope the owner sees this review and addresses both the cleanliness concerns and the way customers are treated when they raise legitimate issues. The cashier was excellent, but the other employee’s behavior was not professional at all.
Amazing chicken shawerma (will always come back for it) Very clean and non greasy BUT horrible stuffed vine leaves. Very disappointing, bland canned ones with pomegranate molasses on top (stuffed with plain rice). Please either do the authentic ones for that price or remove the item because it’s nothing like the authentic syrian ones.

I recently visited Wanas Shawarma, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and it’s clear that they take pride in the quality and freshness of their ingredients.
The shawarma was perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with flavor. The portions were generous, and everything was prepared fresh and served quickly. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, creating a great atmosphere to enjoy a meal.
The staff were friendly, professional, and provided excellent customer service from start to finish. The quality of the food exceeded my expectations, and the value for the price was outstanding. I highly recommend Wanas Shawarma to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful shawarma and a great dining experience. I will definitely be returning in the future!
Absolutely incredible shawarma! Every element is fantastically delicious, from the chicken to the sauces to the fries (seriously amazing fries) and a generous portion of tasty pickles. The staff are also very lovely and welcoming. Excellent value for such high quality food.

My husband and I live in downtown Toronto with plenty of shawarma options nearby, but we still make the trip to Wanas Shawarma on Danforth Ave—and it’s always worth it. The flavor is consistently amazing, portions are generous, and the staff is friendly every time. The place has noticeably improved with each visit, and it’s easy to see why they keep growing. What I love most is how well everything works together in the platters—no matter how you mix the ingredients, each bite somehow makes you want another.”

It might be in Greek town but, one of the best shawarma wraps I’ve ever had is right here at Wanas! Very flavourful and enjoyed Syrian style chicken and fries in the wrap. The employees clearly took pride in the taste and presentation of the food. Very great value for the price and will continue to come here for delicious shawarma!

I made a trip to Wanas Shawarma on the Danforth from downtown Toronto after seeing numerous Instagram reviews claiming they serve the “best shawarma.” Curious and hopeful, I decided to try it myself. I ordered a Beef Shawarma, Syrian style, without hot sauce, and chose to dine in.
To be fair, the portion size was generous for the $15 price point, and visually it looked impressive. The first few bites were actually enjoyable — I could taste the freshness of the beef, the hummus, and especially the pomegranate sauce, which added a unique tangy flavor.
However, as I continued eating, the experience quickly changed. The shawarma was extremely high in sodium, and the hummus flavor dominated every bite. The meat itself felt very fatty, and when combined with the pickles, the overall taste became heavy and unappealing. Halfway through, it became difficult to continue eating as the fat completely overpowered my taste buds.
Another issue was the excessive liquid dripping from the shawarma. My plate ended up soaked, and it wasn’t clear whether this was grease, fat, or some form of sauce. I’ve attached photos and videos to show what I mean. It significantly affected the dining experience.
I also noticed a thick white substance on the vertical rotisserie where the beef shawarma was cooking, which appeared to be layers of fat added to the meat. While this may be intentional for flavor, it likely explains the heaviness and greasy aftertaste.
What concerned me further was the complete absence of nutritional or calorie information, both on the menu and inside the restaurant. After the meal, the aftertaste lingered uncomfortably, even during my subway ride home.
This is strictly my personal opinion. For those who prioritize bold flavor and richness, Wanas may be appealing. However, for anyone looking for a balance between taste and a healthier meal, I would strongly recommend avoiding this place.

It was National Shawarma Day, October 15, 2025 and Wanas Shawarma was my absolute favourite of three shawarma places we went to for $5 deals! I was also happy to be first in line and got two chicken shawarma Syrian style wraps. It was so delicious! I love the square saag bread and the pomegranate sauce which makes the juicy chicken taste even better! It’s authentic Syrian style and I love it!
Service was fast and friendly. It’s a narrow entrance but thankfully it wasn’t a long line up at 11am. We ate on their small front patio. Highly recommend this place for one of the BEST shawarmas in Toronto!
We stopped by Wanas Shawarma and had such a great experience. The food was fresh, flavourful, and truly authentic — I highly recommend the Chicken Shawarma Arabic Style Plate, it’s fantastic. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to accommodate us (we even had kids with us and they made everything easy). Great food and genuine service — we’ll definitely be back!
