Really enjoyed my brunch at the George Street Diner. The atmosphere is great, an old fashioned diner. I had the Ultimate Irish Breakfast, it’s filling! The Irish Soda Bread? So-delicious!! Really dense, but great for sopping up my over easy eggs, the yolks were a bright yellow, so great! The bacon was great, but it was “rashioned”, give another slice! The he sausage link were good, not great. The beans were tasty and the seared tomato was a nice touch. Friendly service, maybe not the quickest, but solid overall.
Great spot for a brunch and food was simply fresh, delicious, and amazing! We went here on a Saturday so be prepared to wait a long time. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The place is small so they also provide outdoor seating. The area is in a quiet location and away from the other busy streets. Only gave a 4-star because of the long wait. Overall would recommend this place to everyone!
Food was SO good! So so good, we came back twice.
Pancakes were super fluffy and buttermilk deliciousness. The Quinn that comes with it is the perfect touch! Their fries are home made and pressed; perfectly seasoned— to the point you don’t even need ketchup.
Service was great! Everyone was super friendly and attentive. Who doesn’t love a local diner? Can’t wait to come back! They’re also open until 9pm Wed-Fri, so check them out :)
Quaint diner with an occasional line up.
Quick service, but also resulted in us being brought to a dirty table that they rushed cleaned to a subpar standard in front of us. There was still syrup stuck on the table and the sauces were hiding a nasty used napkin. We had several servers, so they seem to work as a team to get more done.
The booths are cute and cozy. Four regular humans could squeeze in comfortably enough. The bathroom is downstairs. They do have one table that perhaps a wheelchair user could make use of, but I'm not sure the space is wide enough to accommodate (plus no toilet).
The food was tasty and on point for a diner, but nothing extraordinary. It'll hit the spot. Large portions. The coffee was good.
They also sell a few random British candies.
It's not a destination point for me, but I'd go back if I was in the area.
Thanks to the cheerful atmosphere and the friendly, energetic lady working there, my tiring Saturday afternoon was starting to feel a bit better. But then a male staff member completely ruined the experience. He asked if I was done eating, then immediately took my tray and threw everything straight into the trash. It felt incredibly disrespectful. There was no one waiting for a table, and it wasn’t even that busy — so why rush to take my tray and toss it like garbage? It made me feel like what I just ate was trash too. (The food was not good anyway tbh)
Beautiful diner with vintage retro feel. There are tons of little toys and figurines stacked on the windowsill which makes this diner very family friendly. I ordered the Irish breakfast and those beans and soda bread were something else. The soda bread kind of reminded me of a muffin in a bread and it was extremely moist. I've never had bread like it. The beans were flavorful and I loved the side of mushrooms. The eggs were cooked perfectly.
George Street Diner is like eating inside a relic or museum and I hope they continue to preserve it as is!
I really enjoyed George Street Diner. The food was very good, even though I’m not a big diner food guy, and despite it’s tastiness it actually wasn’t the highlight of my time here. The highlight, in my opinion is two things: the outstanding service, and the amazing atmosphere. I came with a buddy and as soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by a friendly host who joked with us and made conversation. This friendliness continued with our great attentive waitress and finally with the woman serving us coffees making sure our cups were never empty. They all joked and talked to us asking us about our plans for the day, as well as giving us their takes on St. Patty’s day. The atmosphere of the place didnt disappoint either, a homey and movie-esque diner that you don’t see too often in Toronto these days. As my friend and I talked and ate, I couldn’t help but be reminded of a certain famous scene of two friends sitting in a diner for breakfast. Anyways, to keep long review long, I enjoyed GSD and recommend you try it too!
The food and service here is brilliant. Make sure to have their fresh orange juice, too, it's so good! While this diner is a fair bit more expensive than others in the area, the service is really friendly and we enjoyed the breakfast food. Would gladly recommend and visit again.
Great service- Great food
This morning, my family and I had breakfast at The George St. diner and it was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Even for picky eaters, there were plenty of options to choose from. Overall, it was a great choice for a family breakfast outing. 5 stars!
