The Playbook Commons blends the energy of a classic steakhouse with the comfort of American-Italian dining and the excitement of sports theatre. Our menu celebrates timeless dishes like handmade pasta, seafood, and steaks, crafted with care and intention. The room strikes a balance between sophistication and playful charm, creating an atmosphere that’s welcoming, vibrant, and full of character. Playbook reimagines the sports-viewing experience, bringing together elegance and spirited camaraderie. This is where memories are made and traditions are born.
This restaurant was an exercise in contrasts. The environment is tasteful, classy and well appointed, other than THE INNUMERABLE HUGE TELEVISION SCREENS THROUGHOUT. The clientele was mixed, with people there obviously on business, but mixed with young and casual guests as well. The menu is classic and well thought out - an Italian steakhouse feel. The sides are separate from the mains but a good size for sharing. We had the mushrooms, which were excellent, the steakfries, which were very good, and the bacon brussells sprouts which were underwhelming. I opted for the lamb chops, which were cooked perfectly, tender, tasty with excellent seasoning and zero muttony taste. Literally among the best lamb chops i have had. The Hanger steak cooked medium rare was decent, but not as good as the lamb. The pasta and salads I could see coming out of the kitchen were huge. At least that helped partially justify the higher level prices for such plates.
We did not try any dessert. We had some whisky after dinner - there is a decent selection, but no whisky list to actually look at.
Overall, an interesting evening.
It was an absolute pleasure to be here. We were here to watch the FIFA canada match. Loved the humongous screens they have. Luckily more people had the same idea so we were many tables supporting Canada. Food and service was top-notch. Will be back when in the area.
2/5 ⭐️
Came to The Playbook Commons for dinner before a concert at RBC Amphitheatre and was honestly REALLY DISSAPPOINTED.
We had a reservation, but when we arrived we were told the Hotel X parking lot was full and that we couldn’t park there. Once we got to the restaurant, we stood at the front for about 5 mins before anyone even acknowledged us, despite the restaurant being less than half full on a Thurs eve.
We ordered 2 drinks - My boyfriend’s was fine, but my $20 Peach Bellini looked like someone had already drank a third of it 😒 I got maybe four sips out of the entire glass. For $20, it felt like a complete rip-off.
For food, we ordered the Caesar salad, steak tartare and sausage orecchiette.
Unfortunately, none of it was good. The Caesar was mediocre at best, and the large cubes of soft bacon were really unpleasant 🤢
The steak tartare was easily one of the WORST IVE EVER HAD. I’m not sure what kind of twist the kitchen was going for, but the chips were soft and stale and absolutely covered in an overpowering salty seasoning. The tartare itself was also extremely salty, to the point that it completely overwhelmed the dish 🧂🤮🧂🤮🧂
The sausage orecchiette was basically swimming in liquid and felt more like pasta soup than a proper pasta dish 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Service throughout the meal was mediocre as well. The restaurant itself is nice-looking, Hotel X is beautiful, and the location is extremely convenient if you’re going to a concert at RBC Amphitheatre, which are really the only reasons I’m giving it two stars.
For a $128 bill before gratuity, the quality of the food was nowhere near what I expected. We left wishing we had gone to Valerie upstairs instead or just somewhere else completely.
I’m not sure I’d come back, even with how convenient the location is. Don’t bother wasting your time coming here…
Tried the liquid sunshine tonight, love playbook!!Kato and Suzan were great servers and were very kind and energetic. Our bartenders G and megi were fantastic. I was there the night before and megi gave great service as well. Consistently great! I LOVE COMING HERE! They’re so fantastic.

I recently went to the Playbook with some friends for a long overdue catch-up, and it did not disappoint! We ordered a bunch of plates to share, and everything from the savory dishes to the amazing desserts were 10/10 (the honeybutter cake and tiramisu were my faves). Our service was also impeccable, we felt cared for throughout the nice and they were so friendly and helpful too! The bartender even made us a special drink which tasted amazing. Will definitely be coming back and making it a regular spot.

This restaurant is absolutely delicious, especially the Sunday Special Menu, which is only $59. One person can order three dishes, which would normally cost over $100 for the same three dishes. The steak and truffle pasta are both amazing, and the side dishes are great too. The atmosphere is also wonderful. I really love this place!

The Playbook Commons is a great spot to come sit at the bar or enjoy for date night. A bit pricey but definitely worth it. I tried out a gin cocktail called the Green Thumb, as well as the arancini & hanger steak. All were very tasty choices.
Bart at the bar was my bartender/server & provided great service, insight, and conversation. Shoutout to him!
Would definitely come back on my next trip to Toronto!

It was my first time at Playbook and it was a great experience through and through. The space is gorgeous and they have huge screens to watch sports games. They also have a gluten free pasta option which was very accommodating, the Truffle Tagliatelle was delicious!
Big shoutout to the bartender Tusy! She’s clearly passionate about her work and it shows - the service she provided and the cocktails she crafted were top tier. Ask her to make you an amaretto sour and you won’t be disappointed!

We celebrated our One Year Wedding Anniversary at The Playbook Commons and had the best time! The food and service was beyond anything we ever expected. The team went above and beyond to make sure our anniversary celebration was nothing short of amazing. They really contributed to making our anniversary so special and memorable. Thank you so much again for everything ~ including the surprises we were not expecting but are so grateful for

We found this restaurant to be just about average. We ate here twice while staying in the Hotel X during the IndyCar weekend. We had been told by staff that this was a new restaurant and was fantastic. We definitely had a different experience. The pasta was well cooked, but my husband’s steak was served on a cold plate which made the steak cold within a few minutes. There is no real atmosphere and on both occasions we were happy to just eat our meal and leave. We only went back the second time as the other restaurant in the hotel - Roses Social, was closed. We had an early flight the next day and it was just easier to eat at the hotel.
If you can eat in Roses Social instead it’s a much nicer vibe with great food. There are so many good restaurants in Toronto, you don’t need to waste money in Playbook Commons
