Visited recently to try their collaboration with Bear Steak Sandwiches. They are best known for their breakfast sandwiches, serving a unique take of classic egg breakfast sandwiches to more creative options as their take on the breakfast sandwich.

Their collaboration with Bear Steak Sandwiches was an Egg and Steak Sandwich, which comprised of flank steak, scrambled egg, fried hash brown and the chimichurri sauce from Bear Steak Sandwich. The sandwich itself had a good mix of texture with the egg, steak and hash brown, as everything fit together very well. As this is normally their Dads '48 Egg Sandwich with a couple of differences, this was a good way to try one of their classic egg sandwiches. Their menu has other options such as one which uses a panko-breaded egg (the Katsu Dad) as well as their own Egg Salad sandwich.

Overall, it's a good spot in the city for a breakfast sandwich especially if in the Dundas West and Dufferin area. The restaurant is more of a pick up/take out spot, but does has some (limited) casual seating available to eat in.

A good breakfast spot overall but does it live up to the hype? The buns were soft, everything was seasoned well, and the sandwiches were satisfying — just fairly standard. Nothing personally stood out enough to make it feel especially memorable.

The Katsu Dad’s chili oil reminded me a lot of chili silken tofu (which I enjoy), though at this price point I found myself wishing for something a bit more distinctive.

I’m happy to pay more when the quality or creativity really shines, but two sandwiches and a small coffee slushy felt a bit steep for what we received.

Overall, not a bad experience — just not somewhere I’d go out of my way to revisit.

Their Katsu Sandwich was a standout! It's an Asian fusion flavor that's surprisingly spicy so be warned. Also tried the new Falafel one, which also tasted on point in terms of fusion Mediterranean flavors, but I prefer the Katsu still. The Katsu one's worth the money IMO because it's a unique taste and not your average breakfast sandwich, versus other negative reviews might be referring more to their classic American style breakfast sandwich.

Was here on a Saturday morning. Very limited seating with people always coming and going. Popular spot!

very solid, well-made breakfast sandwiches (and the katsu dad was super unique and tasty), but i think i paid way too much for two sandwiches and a small coffee slushy.

the katsu dad had a warm, comforting, fluffy egg with a SUPER crispy coating, and was sandwiched between two, thick but soft buns. the chili oil was sooo aromatic, quite spicy, and mixed really well with the creamy, mayo-y aioli. it was super saucy and quite a flavourful sandwich, so it paired really well with the cold, honey-sweet (but not too sweet) coffee slushy.

while the katsu dad had a very powerful, savoury/salty flavour, the dad’s 48 was much sweeter because of the ketchup and had a strong tang from the pickles. the crispy hashbrown was a good touch too, but i think it was a bit more generic/normal (didn’t stand out as much) as the katsu dad.

again, the coffee slushy pairs really great with both sandwiches (although a wider straw would’ve helped, when it was mostly icy slush and not a lot of liquid)

I'm not going to lie and say this wasn't a good sandwich BUT I would also never say that this requires a visit. The breakfast sandwiches (both the classic and the vegetarian one) were good, but not a single element of either stood out. The eggs and sausage kind of blended into each other, which is fine but it was a bit disappointing that neither sandwich had a single element that shone. Each bite kind of tasted like generic, albeit good, breakfast sandwich.

Would maybe go again, but only if someone else really wanted to go.

EDIT: Upon further consideration, the thing that irritated me the most about this sandwich is that texturally it all kind had the same feel. The hash brown wasn't crunchy at all, and the sausage really just had no bounce. The bun was soft and pillowy, which would normally be good, but there was just no contrast. I might as well have been toothless and I probably could've eaten it all the same. Just kind of a bummer.

You can tell that either the sandwich was bland or that my friends and I don't listen to each other, because every single one of us turned to the next person and said "Oh wow, there's pickle in this" because literally nothing else was of note.

One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! The Dad’s 48 was perfectly balanced and yummy, but the coffee slush was the highlight!

I had the DAD’s 48 breakfast sandwich and really enjoyed it! My partner and my friend ordered the special with provolone, and that looked absolutely delicious too.
The only downside for me was the environment—you sit right next to others and it feels like you need to rush through your sandwich a little bit.

That said, the service was super quick and the lady working there was very kind :)

Just tried the Dad’s Vacation last I went in! These breakfast sandwiches are consistently perfect, delicious, and absolutely scrumptious every time. Don’t pass on the coffee slushy- you’ll regret it!

Walked by this place and was intrigued by a crowd, came back the next day and was well worth it.

48 Sandwich with sausage was amazing, the crispiest hash brown with soft egg and house ketchup which ties it all together. Unreal breakfast sandwich and an amazing coffee slushy. Imagine an Iced Capp but way higher quality, less sweet, with fresh coffee.

The coffee slush is dangerously good, as in I could probably inhale it. It was very easy to drink which is what made it dangerous. The slush was smooth and well balanced in terms of sweetness.
The breakfast sandwich was soi delicious. It was simple and looked simple, but very well executed. It's probably my favorite breakfast sandwich I ever had. The cook on everything was perfect and it was very satisfying. The only downside is it's quite a trek to go here since it's way in the west end. But if I'm craving breakfast and I'm on that side of town? I will probably go back to Dad's

We came on a Friday at about 2pm, so there was hardly any wait. Do keep in mind there’s barely any seating and when we came all the spots outside the store were already occupied by people.

I just want to say the food is amazing. We got the katsu dad sandwich and dad’s 48 sandwich.

The katsu dad was so so so good. The sandwich had a crispy panko breaded egg with caramelized onions as well as a spicy chili crisp and aioli that paired so well with it. I really didn’t expect much but after one bite I was shocked at the textures and flavours and how everything worked together.

The dad’s 48 sandwich was a bit more standard with a hash brown, egg and pickles. We went with the sausage which I think might be house made and sooo flavourful, which we loved.

We also got the coffee slushy and as a non coffee drinker, this was seriously so good. Not too sweet and just the right amount of coffee flavour that wasn’t overwhelmingly bitter, in a fun slushy form!

Now for the not so fun part and why I knocked one star off: the price. We just felt kind of bad paying about 40 dollars for this meal when we could have gone to Badiali’s a couple blocks away and gotten a whole pie including drinks and dips for a little bit more than this.

extremely overpriced for what it is and also they should be able to speed up the cooking process for sandwiches. its good but not life changing. rather spend $50+ in an actual breakfast spot

Everything was great, love the coffee slush. As a person who doesn’t eat breakfast much and typically thinks it’s the least worth thing to buy, this proves that wrong! Though it’s definitely a spend.

Easily some of the best breakfast sandwiches we’ve ever had. We ordered the Dad’s 48 and the Katsu, and both were insanely good. The bread was soft and toasty, the fillings were full of flavor, and everything just worked together perfectly. Honestly, a next-level sandwich.

Make sure you get the coffee slushy too. It’s cold, strong, and the perfect match for a great sandwich.

The staff were super friendly and made the whole experience even better. If you’re in Toronto or just visiting, do yourself a favour and check this place out. You’ll be glad you did.

This place bangs. I tried the Dad’s 48 and the Katsu Dad. I loved both but I need to come back for another 48. The pickles on it are so good. The coffee slushy is made with cold brew, oat milk and honey. It was the perfect level of sweet. Owner is very friendly and excited about his project and very welcoming. Loved the community vibe of this place
