I had a great experience! The sandwiches were really delicious, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh. The portion size was excellent—very filling and definitely worth it. There’s also seating available downstairs, which makes it a comfortable spot to enjoy your food. I’d definitely come back and recommend it!

Found this place during a random city walk. From the outside it already looked really good, so the next time I passed by I went straight in.

There was a huge pork knuckle on display that looked amazing.
The space is small, and it feels like they are constantly busy with takeout orders.

👉 La Mortazza ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ ($15)
So good. I love cold cut sandwiches and this one did not disappoint.
Very generous with the meat but not overly salty.
The bread is soft focaccia with big air pockets.

Did not really taste much pistachio, but the cheese was very fragrant.
Not too oily, and the chili adds a really nice aroma.

If you’re on Queen Street in Toronto and craving Italian-inspired sandwiches, Vero Sandwich is worth a stop. Their sandwiches are built on fresh sourdough bread, which we enjoyed straight out of the oven. Normally, they reheat the bread to get it extra crispy, which I imagine elevates the experience even more.
We tried two sandwiches:
Il Diavolo (Spicy) – Soppresatta Calabrese, Peperonata, ’Nduja Crema, and Fresh Mozzarella. This was great if you enjoy a touch of spice in your sandwich; the flavors blended beautifully without being overwhelming.
Smoke & Dolce – Speck, Smoked Provolone, Stracciatella, Fig Jam, and Arugula. I particularly loved the smokiness from the torching of the meat and the sweetness from the fig jam, making for a balanced and satisfying bite.
It’s honestly a tough choice between the two! I’m already planning to come back to try their other offerings.
Prices are reasonable for Toronto, especially considering the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The sandwiches are generous—likely too much for one sitting, so bringing the remainder home is a good option.
Seating is available at a counter inside, with additional seating downstairs, which even has a bathroom. Plus, there are two display/prep areas where you can watch them make their bread and roast their meats, adding a fun, behind-the-scenes feel to your visit.
On top of the food, we got to meet one of the owners, Jeff, who was super informative about the sandwiches and shared how he and his co-founder came up with the idea. It was a nice personal touch that made the experience even better.
Overall, Vero Sandwich offers a delightful combination of fresh, flavorful ingredients, Italian-inspired craftsmanship, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-try spot for sandwich lovers in Toronto.

Just had the Don Angelo and God Feather at Vero Sandwich on Queen Street and WOW 😍 The Schiacciata bread is unreal! It was warm, crunchy, and fresh, giving every bite that perfect contrast of textures.

The fillings are generous (like, actually generous) and full of flavour.

The Don Angelo($24) is one of the most popular sandwich that has Prosciutto, Burrata, Parmigiano, Tomato,
Balsamic Glaze and Arugula. Sweet Balsamic blaze complemented burrata really well. Ordered grande size and only was able to finish half. Had the other half a couple of hours later, bread was still crunchy.

The God-feather ($18) comes loaded with roast turkey, smoked provolone, caramelized onions, heritage greens, and a cacio e pepe crema — though the crema leaned more Caesar-like than classic cacio e pepe.

And that chunky hot sauce? Spicy, tangy, bold — the perfect finishing touch.

If you love a good sandwich, this place is a must!

Vero offers fresh Italian sandwiches made with freshly baked Italian-style bread that’s crispy on the outside and fluffy and warm on the inside. For fillings, you can choose from many freshly cut deli options, variety of cheese and veggies.

We ordered “Don Angelo” and “Gavagool”. Sandwiches are so filling that 2 can share 1. Both of the sandwiches were fresh and delicious; I loved them both. We finished our meal on a sweet note with “Dolce”; combination of Nutella and pistachio.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s TTC-friendly and street parking is available on Queen Street.

Fresh Italian sandwichs, a lots of meat and cheese. Freshly baked, soft and crispy on the outside bread. Super friendly staff. Love the flavors, great choices. We had the Bon Angelo (apprently daily best seller) and Smoke Dolce. Little pricey, but that's average price now for quality lunches in Toronto.

Vero Italian Sandwich is a great spot if you’re in the mood for a high quality, satisfying sandwich. The highlight for me was definitely the in house Schiacciata bread warm, fragrant, and full of flavour. You can actually see them making and baking it on site, which adds a really authentic and inviting touch. It’s the kind of bread that instantly tells you the sandwich is going to be good.

I went with The God Feather, and it did not disappoint. The ingredients tasted fresh, the fillings were generous, and everything was well balanced without being too heavy. It’s one of those sandwiches that feels simple but thoughtfully put together, and you can tell they care about what they’re serving.

The shop itself is cozy, but there’s additional seating in the basement, which is handy when the main area gets crowded.

Overall, Vero Italian Sandwich Co. delivers great flavour, fresh bread, and a warm, authentic vibe. Definitely worth stopping by if you love a good Italian style sandwich.

Stopped into Vero to check out their sandwiches. Greeted by Stefano who was friendly and personable. Decided on the medio Don Angelo.
This was a great sandwich. It was bursting with freshness and flavour. The burrata was creamy and rich. The made in house bread was crunchy and added a great textural element.
I can’t wait to return to try another !!

My boyfriend and I came in to try the sandwiches since social media seemed to give such amazing reviews. We paid $60 for the Don Angelo sandwich (x2) and two drinks.

We were both very disappointed by the bread quality and prosciutto. I would rather wait for the bread to be fresh out of the oven when I eat it instead of cold and sitting. Not worth the visit if you’re looking to pay more than what the food is worth. As a side note, I was given one napkin for two people and I was dining downstairs. I understand it’s not a huge deal to go upstairs and grab another napkin but if two people have ordered food you’d think to put two napkins on the tray would be common sense. (They did not have a condiment and napkin stand set up downstairs)

If you want a good authentic Italian sandwich the best place to go is CRUDO. You will not be disappointed. They’re double in size and about $30 for two sandwiches. Bread is fresh out of the oven every order and meats are sliced fresh per order at their in-restaurant deli stand.

Do not believe the hype for this place on social media.

This place is absolutely amazing. From the smell of the freshly baked dough when you walk in to the warmth of the customer service provided, this restaurant will be a regular staple in my food rotation. I tried the Don Angelo and the Mortazza. The first bites for each sandwich was a heavenly experience. I can't say enough about the bread. Absolute perfection. Not too heavy and the taste was so good. Thank you Vero team. Keep it up.

This place is perfection! These Italian sandwiches are the most authentic I’ve had in Toronto. The bread is so soft and fresh. Got the Don Angelo and oh my it was amazing!! The staff were so nice!! Please open one in Vaughan!!! :)

Also they did not ask me to write a review nor was it for any discount… it was just that good of an Italian sandwich that I had to leave a review!

The meatball sandwich was absolutely phenomenal — hands down the best I’ve had in Toronto. The meatballs were perfectly juicy, never dry, and bursting with flavor. The cheese melted beautifully, wrapping each bite in rich, gooey goodness that paired flawlessly with the sandwich. The bread was the true finishing touch, toasted to golden perfection on the outside while staying soft and fluffy inside. To top it off, the service was quick and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I can’t recommend this spot enough, it’s a must-try!
