Linny’s
Had to put up this review. I am always on the hunt for the best steak but I have to admit this was one of my top steaks in the world. The Romanian is out of this world (lowest priced steak too), the flavor was unbelievable and the texture was perfect. Must try, easy best steak in Toronto. The other star was the Pastrami, living in Montreal for years, this brought back smoked meat memories (I know its different) but it was also amazing and tender. I wanted to love the potato but it was overpowering the cheese sauce. The fries were great. The staff were amazing, sat at the bar, and the vibes were great. This is now my go to anytime I come back to Toronto. Also very decent selection of Tequila. The Chocolate Babka was the good dessert, but they also had Gluten free dessert buckwheat cake. Put this on your top steakhouse in Toronto to try.
I loved this restaurant! Our waiter JC offered great suggestions and we opted for the upgraded steak for our Friday night taste menu. The pastrami, chicken livers on toast and house salad were my absolute favorited! Even the washrooms were nicely kept and carefully curated. Definitely would come back
Excellent service and food. We came here with high expectations and didn’t get let down.
Shout out to the service from Jess (not sure if we get the name right). As first-time Linny’s customers, we got a great intro of the menu and recommendations on what to order. We were really happy with the special set — we got to try different appetizers. Our salad was served wrong but we didn’t bother to ask for the right one. The waiter spotted that and offered the correct one complimentary.
Really happy with the Romaine and Strip Loin we ordered. So tender and beefy in a very good way.
Totally got blown away by the desserts. Before the dessert we got these two little lime marshmallows as snacks - they tasted magical. And we were in a rush for a concert and thought we might not finish the dessert, but it was so good that we finished it all.
Really enjoyed our dinner and had a really good time. Will definitely be back soon.

I’ve never written a review before, but I was so impressed by this restaurant that I felt compelled to do so. Nice ambiance let’s get to the food that’s why we’re here. We started with the challah service followed by chicken liver toast. The service was top-notch. She brought us complementary amuse-bouche appetizers. Everything was delicious! We ordered the Romanian with a twice baked potato on the side for the main and the pièce de résistance was their delicious homemade Babka for dessert. I can see why Linny’s voted #14 out of 100 best restaurants in Canada. They deserve all the accolades! can’t wait to return.
A Masterclass in Classic NY Style with Exceptionally Executed Flavours
Having dined at Linny’s a couple of times now, I can confidently confirm that it delivers a consistently high-caliber experience, balancing a nostalgic New York-style ambiance with sharp, modern execution. From the spiffy staff uniforms to the clean, warm-toned dining room, the atmosphere sets a perfect stage for a great meal.
If it’s your first visit, the pastrami is an absolute, non-negotiable must-order.
On my second visit, I decided to explore a broader cross-section of the menu, and it did not disappoint. Here is how the meal broke down technically:
The Savory Course
The Pickle Plate & House Hot Sauce:
An excellent baseline for the meal. The pickled cucumbers were the standout of the plate—crisp and perfectly balanced. However, the real star of the table settings was the house-fermented hot sauce. It carried an exceptional depth of flavor with a brilliant, clean heat level that cut through the richer dishes.
Potato Dumplings (9/10):
These are essentially delicate, gnocchi-sized pillows. The texture was remarkably soft and pillowy, paired with a beautifully emulsified creamy sauce kissed with a subtle hint of fresh dill. It’s a rich dish, so sharing is highly recommended to save real estate for the rest of the menu.
The Romanian (8/10):
A very well-executed steak cut. The execution on the temperature was precise, and the baseline seasoning was spot on. A thoughtful touch was the presentation of a side finishing salt, allowing for personal micro-adjustments to taste.
The Sweet Sign-off
Passion Fruit Trifle (10/10):
This dessert was an absolute triumph. It achieved a flawless structural balance of sweetness, creaminess, and crunch. The inclusion of candied passion fruit added a spectacular textural contrast and a vibrant punch of acidity. A definitive, world-class end to the meal.
Service & Pacing
The service overall was sharp and attentive. My waiter, Elbert, was incredibly helpful and kept a watchful eye on the table. The only minor critique in an otherwise seamless evening occurred at the very end: the trifle was delivered to the table, but there was a slight delay in bringing the spoons. While it technically heightened the anticipation of an incredible dessert, ensuring the proper silverware lands concurrently with the dish would make the service flawless.
Linny's successfully marries retro charm with serious culinary execution. Between the fermented hot sauce, the delicate dumplings, and a flawless dessert program, it is easily one of the more exciting dining rooms to visit right now.
Highly Recommended.

In short, this was the absolute best dining experience of our lives!
From the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left, we were made to feel welcome and that they were happy to have us at the restaurant.
Everything from the decour, to the food was absolutely perfect!
Our server Maggie was brilliant, she knew the menu inside out and backwards, she was incredibly kind and had a great sense of humour.
The food was absolutely delicious. We ended up having the Friday Night Special, which is available everyday. It is the chefs tasting menu. 11 different dishes of their top selling items. Unlike many tasting me us these were real portion sizes. They just do half portions of everything, except the Challah Service, and the Chocolate Babka, which were full portions.
We had the Challah, Caesar salad, chicken liver toast, fluke and fennel, grilled beef salami, fish croquettes, the Romanian, which is the hanger steak, Linney's cut pastrami plate, french fries and charred broccolini as a little pallet cleanser, they brought us little orange infused marshmallows, that were incredibly light and fresh
To finish it off was their Chocolate Babka with house made vanilla bean ice cream.
An absolute perfect meal, with such incredible depth of flavour from start to finish.
Had one of those meals at Linny’s where you keep looking around the room like… is everyone else experiencing this the same way? The room had a great energy to it: lively and full without feeling overwhelming and you immediately understand why it’s always packed and not the easiest reservation to lock down. You can feel the place is dialed before you even see a menu.
We ordered pretty classic: caesar, bone-in prime rib, butterball potatoes, peppercorn gravy… plus these unhinged pickled green beans in a panko crust with a ranch that had no business being that addictive. Also started with a croquette topped with house cured pastrami that wasn’t even on the menu. And then dessert… had the braided babka and a yuzu trifle situation, and somehow finished both. Completely unnecessary, fully mandatory.
Service was flawless… present, sharp, and never once hovering. Everyone we interacted with clearly knew what was going on: smooth, confident, and completely in sync. I’ve been recommending this place nonstop since and already planning my way back.
Visited Linny’s to celebrate a friend’s birthday and their engagement. Service was top notch. Atmosphere was lively and swanky. Food was pretty good! The challah service was nice, caesar salad was refreshing, and the chicken liver pate toast was a crowd-pleaser. Moving on to the mains, we ordered a 32 oz bone-in ribeye special for the table and it was a good size for 4 people. The quality of the meat was really something, however the flavours felt a bit mute. Pastrami was stellar. Mushrooms are a must order in my opinion. Babka dessert was just ok, nothing special in my opinion. Overall, nice spot to celebrate and splurge!

The popular chicken liver toast definitely lived up to the hype. It was creamy and seasoned well, that shaved, cured egg paired so well. The mushroom dish, don't remember what is called was so good too. Flavors were very interesting, not typical at all. The steak on the other hand was good but wasn't great, especially for how much they charge compared to other places. Cote de Beauf has one for 1/2 the price and I thought it was better. Overall was a great experience but the highlight was the appetizers.
My friends and I sat at the bar lastnight and tried the tasting menu and it was phenomenal and so much food that we were able to pack some of it up for leftovers. The service was amazing and everyone was friendly and approachable. The buildout of the space is so unique, cozy and well done.

My fiancé and I went to Linny’s to celebrate his 40th birthday. Everything we ordered was amazing. Meat is high quality; sourced locally in Ontario which we love. The bread is AMAZING! We initially did not order, but when we looked around the restaurant, every table had it so we had to get one to try. To say the least, it did not disappoint. Definitely will be going back!!!

Hands down one the best dining experiences I’ve had in Toronto in a very long time.
After a busy holiday season visiting family and friends in Toronto, my flight was delayed 6 hours so I decided to make the most of my time and treat myself with a last minute solo reservation at Linny’s.
I decided on the tasting menu which was the perfect option to taste just about everything that Linny’s had to offer. Blaze, the Aussie bartender, was the perfect host. Between his knowledge of the menu, pairings, and great banter, I had a such a great time. Each dish was perfectly delicious — the challah plate, pickles, pastrami, steak, literally everything was amazing. The tasting menu is a bit much for just one person so I took things to go and was able to enjoy everything all over again the next morning before my flight (thanks Air Canada!)
Another shout out to Blaze for taking the time to explain the best way to reheat and enjoy everything I was taking home with me.
All in all 111/10, highly recommend with no hesitation. If you’re looking to dine out for a special occasion or treat yourself just because, Linny’s is your spot.
I’m looking forward to my next visit to Toronto and will 110% make a purposeful stop at Linny’s while I’m there.

Wow. I haven’t been impressed like this in a long time! We had the tasting menu, where you get a sampling of their popular menu items. We really liked all the dishes and so much food. We will definitely be back. Our server was also very good. We were going to try the Sunday prime rib meal but he suggested the tasting menu and it was a great suggestion.
