A standout spot in Toronto for a relaxed, satisfying meal that consistently exceeds expectations.
One of my favourite brunch places in the city. You can never go wrong with the blueberry pancakes, they are a staple, and something you have to order for the table as a shareable, if not your own meal.
Not on their menu, but they make a really fantastic hot chocolate.
The service is always great, and the food always comes out delicious and generously portioned.
Something interesting that old school has done this winter is they’ve turned their usual outdoor patio into an all seasoned patio with heaters and blankets. It’s a really smart way to make use of their space and maximize the amount of people they can serve at one time. We did go on an extremely cold day, and because we didn’t have reservations we sat in this covered space. The heaters make all the difference, but it was still cold. Nothing the restaurant can do about that, they were transparent and said we could sit at the bar, but we chose a table. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze in here, and if the other diners in this section are noisy it can be tough to hear the people you are with. Just flagging if you are looking for a quiet spot, I would make sure you make a reservation to get a table inside.
Old School is a fun, laid‑back spot known for its comfort food and retro vibe. The space feels cozy and welcoming, with a classic diner style that makes it easy to relax.
The menu leans into dishes like fried chicken, waffles, and all‑day breakfast favourites.
The service is friendly, and the atmosphere has a warm, neighborhood feel. It’s a great place to grab a casual meal.
Went to Old School for brunch this morning and overall had a great meal! We ordered the eggs Benedict with peameal bacon, the blueberry pancakes, a biscoff latte, and an Americano. The food was great: the pancakes were fluffy, the eggs Benny was perfectly cooked, and the biscoff latte had just the right amount of flavor without being overly sweet.
That said, I was a little disappointed because I’d read so many reviews raving about the blueberry hot sauce and was really looking forward to trying it. I was hoping to ask our server about it, but after he dropped off our food, he never came back to check on us for the rest of the meal, which was a bit of a letdown.
Overall though, the food and atmosphere were solid, the place is super cute and I’d definitely come back, if not just to buy one of their mugs, but I’m crossing my fingers for a chance to finally try that blueberry hot sauce next time 🤞
Old School Toronto is a must-visit! The avocado toast is next level – perfectly ripe avocado, delicious bread, and the right amount of seasoning. Their mimosas are also amazing, and the service is top-notch. John was our server, and he was super friendly and attentive, making our brunch experience even better. As an international foodie, I recommend this spot for a fantastic meal and great vibes! 🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶
To start, I think that this is a cool spot and my friends liked their food so this is just my experience with what I ordered. The mac and cheese was not good. I added hot sauce to it and it made it a bit better, but the chicken that I added was terrible. It had a weird taste to it and the cheese sauce was bland.
On another note, our waiter was extremely rude and unprofessional. We were trying to be as nice as possible because it was busy and I was thinking that maybe he was just overwhelmed, but when asking for simple things like hot sauce, or a drink, he would just abruptly leave the table, come back and put the item down without saying anything. It made our group very uncomfortable and he got visibly annoyed with my friend when she asked for a mimosa and didn’t take his recommendations for alternative drinks.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless you order the blueberry pancakes and if you don’t mind servers that make you feel like you’re inconveniencing them.
4 stars for a good brunch at old school!
It was good but not exceptional, hence a solid 4 stars overall.
The service was a touch slow at the beginning but otherwise very attentive. We did have a reservation for their patio which they seemed to be scrambling to accommodate. They ended up seating us on the back patio associated with the old school cafe, which was ok but not quite the same vibe as being on the main patio where we had reserved.
Food was good and tasty, but again nothing overly exceptional. Portion sizes were good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered.
It wouldn’t be at the top of my list for places to go back to, but I did enjoy the meal.
Nice spot, very cool interior!
Got the blueberry compote pancakes and the egg avocado croissant sandwich which were both really good! The blueberry compote was delicious, sweet and tart balanced really well. The compound butter on top is a great touch too. The sandwich was flavourful and with the avocado and eggs had a nice texture, like a little creamy.
They also had this blueberry hot sauce which sounds weird but I’m obsessed with it. Just enough heat, not overly hot but a little sweetness to it. The biscoff lattes tasted good too, though I think I like a little stronger flavours for coffee.
We were seated on the inside which I think was a little louder but nothing crazy. Service was also friendly and attentive!
10/10 brunch spot! It was so good. Glad I got to try so many different things from the menu. Everything tasted so fresh and flavourful! Really happy with the service. All the servers were great and super friendly! My server was super knowledgeable and helpful in giving suggestions. Highly recommend !!
Ok but nothing to rave about
A wise restaurateur said once if you are serving breakfast you better make sure your coffee is good !
Coffee over price $5 a cup and so bitter you need to water it down.
Mimosa are to have Orange juice with Prosecco and not a splash of OJ
Food was good but over $80.00 with the tip is a little high for 2 pancakes 2 coffee and one drink
It not a steak dinner
We went for Sunday Brunch with friends. The service wasn’t fantastic but the food was fabulous.
We had the blueberry pancakes that were layered with bacon and topped with maple butter, Chicken and waffles with spicy syrup, and eggs Benedict with fried shredded chicken. The breakfast cocktails were also amazing!
Everything was delicious!
Great location, lovely dining on the patio and if too chilly dining indoors was also perfect. Had brunch with my daughter and friend and food, drinks and service was quite good. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken & waffles with French Magaritas but my daughter did comment that the Lobster Grilled Cheese was a bit "fishy".
Overall enjoyable Sunday morning
This spot is great for Brunch. The food is excellent quality, the atmosphere was really good, the decor was modern, sleek and welcoming and the staff were really lovely and polite and professional. Would 1000% come back. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. Top Notch.
Terrible, absolutely disgraceful. I called about an allergy and they were ignorant and dismissive about it. I have a severe allergy to latex and they did not check the gloves in their kitchen for me and were short and abrupt. Staff member hung up the phone before I was done talking.
I would not recommend this place to anyone, and will be notifying everyone at my work and clubs to not eat here.
So many choices in Toronto, this is one to avoid!
Thanks for making it easy
