Butter Baker Market Café
There are few things I want to do after a doctor's appointment, but now I can honestly say that coming here would make me excited to have one!
I happened to be in the area and arrived right as they opened. The staff greeted me warmly, and I took some time to look over the menu and the baked goods on display.
First, I loved how quiet and peaceful it was.
Second, as someone who doesn't drink coffee, I really appreciate cafés that offer more than an $8 cup of peppermint tea. I immediately zeroed in on the Ube Latte, which comes iced or hot. Given the humidity today, iced was an easy choice.
I also ordered the strawberry croissant and decided to dine in instead of scarfing it down on the street.
When I say this place is classy, I mean it. The attention to detail was incredible. There were plenty of tables and chairs in the back, and even though I only ordered a drink and a croissant, I never felt out of place sitting down. One of the employees even moved a nearby table to give me a little more room, and poured me a glass of water. The fact that he also brought over a knife and fork wrapped in a napkin so I could enjoy my croissant properly was the cherry on top.
Speaking of the croissant, I honestly don't think I've had a better one. It was perfectly balanced: tart, fresh, and not overly sweet. The custard was delicious, and the strawberries still had their texture. You could really tell it was freshly made rather than something that had been sitting in a display case all day.
The Ube Latte was excellent as well and sooo pretty! If you're not a fan of overly sweet drinks, you'll probably love it. It was mellow, smooth, and flavorful. I even noticed their ice was shaped almost like little cups, and as someone who's oddly picky about drink-to-ice ratios, I appreciated that there was still plenty of actual drink.
The pricing felt fair, too. When I discovered you could scan a QR code and order a full breakfast, I briefly considered being late for work. The photos looked absolutely delicious.
I'll definitely be back.

Love stopping in for a treat. Fast service and super kind staff. The strawberry croissant was delicious. Cake was delicious. Bought 2 chocolate croissants to bring home. They were filled with chocolate then covered in powdered cocoa. I didn’t like it. The powdered cocoa made it impossible to eat and flavour overpowered the pastry. My face was covered with black dust and I had to give up on the snack and wait till I could eat with a fork and knife. Brushed the second one off with a paper towel. Hope it will be okay for my kids at school.
I’ve purchased several cakes from this shop and they’re all perfectly balanced in flavor and not too sweet. I’ve tried the matchamisu, birthday cake, and rose-flavored cake. The frosting is soft, silky, subtly sweet, and never hardens. I haven’t yet found another cake shop I enjoy as much! Around Valentines Day, my partner picked up the rose-flavored cake (pictured) that was unique and delicious. My only critique is I wish you could customize your cake for special occasions. We’ll always go to Butter Baker for our cake needs!

One of my favorite Spots in Toronto for Breakfast. They YuU hollandaise sauce with their onsen egg on the Salmon Benedict is to die for. Also the best Home fires I ever had. Well seasoned and crispy! Very Filling portions. We went in a min before they opened and they were still very open and welcoming. We were even treated to some sample cake Slices! We will definitely be back for the food and Earl Gray and pistachio cake next time!
Went here for brunch with my friends- we each ordered 1 dish and shared with each other, and found it was a good amount of food. We ordered the strawberry waffle with ice cream, the honey garlic chicken waffle with salad, and the full breakfast (polish sausage, bacon, waffle and potatoes). The drinks were Hojicha latte and Ube latte. We really enjoyed our drinks, it wasn't too sweet and had the advertised flavors. I did think the Hojicha was a bit grainy on top though. The food itself was fine, my friend is a big fan of the salad dressing (a yuzu vinagrette).
However we all agreed the waffles were lackluster- they fell apart quite easily as if it was gluten free, and was prone to being soggy from syrup/icecream very quickly. Did want to note our strawberries on the waffle were a mix of real fruit and compote. Might come back to try their cakes/croissants but overall for a place that seems to offer multiple waffle dishes, this wasnt it.

If I could give 10 stars, I absolutely would. Five stars for the food, because I am a huge fan of anything Earl Grey flavored, and another five stars for the incredible customer service.
We came in around noon for brunch. After finishing our meal, we ordered an ice cream listed on the menu as the “flavor of the month.” Luckily for me, this month’s flavor was Earl Grey. However, when the ice cream arrived, it turned out to be Berries & Vanilla. Since it was only the second day of the month, we assumed the menu might not have been updated yet, so we were totally fine with it.
We simply wanted to let the staff know about the mix-up and had no intention of asking for anything in return. The gentleman who spoke with us, who seemed to be the owner, apologized sincerely several times. To our surprise, he then brought out a slice of cake and told us he would love for us to try their new flavor, Matchamisu, as an apology.
We were honestly so delighted, and even better, the flavor was amazing.
We will definitely be coming back many more times.

The place was very well lit (might be tooo bright to where we were seated) but there were dim areas too. The food took a little time to be prepared maybe because they had a lot of customers the that time. Please note when you order the crepe I highly recommend you share it with another person because it comes in a big portion and if you eat it by yourself you get tired easily. The strawberry waffle was not the greatest I’ve tried. As you can see in the photo… the compote made the waffle toooo soggy and it was just now very appetizing to eat. The crisp texture of the waffle was gone (maybe they put tooo much compote ) i prefer they put more of the fresh strawberries than the compote because it’s tooo sweet already and on top of that it comes with the syrup! Too sweet. The apple caramel waffle was not bad. But the waffle is not really standing out as I expected. Despite all of the above….I love their cakes and ice cream!!! My family always buy it here ☺️ Highly recommend purchasing their cakes for bdays and parties! Thank you so much for the good service as well! The matcha drink and Jazmine tea was goood!! 💛

This is a very popular ice cream spot in Toronto that I personally don’t quite understand. They release different flavors every month. I’ve tried their ice cream three times: vanilla + mango, vanilla + strawberry, and this month’s vanilla + tiramisu. Unfortunately, none of them were particularly good. Each time I kept thinking maybe the next visit would be better, but it never really was.
The texture is more slushy than creamy, quite different from how it looks in photos. It photographs beautifully, but the flavor itself is very average, especially for a $7 ice cream. I would say McDonald’s soft serve tastes better in comparison.
The waffle cone is probably the best part: very fragrant and well made. However, it starts leaking everywhere after about five minutes, which makes it hard to enjoy.
Service wise, the female staff inside who help with seating were very friendly. On the other hand, the guys getting the ice cream felt quite indifferent. During my most recent visit, they didn’t even ask which flavors I wanted and just defaulted to a mix.
Overall, it feels like a place with strong visuals and hype, but the actual product could be much better.

Came here to get dessert because I’ve heard great things about their cakes. We got a slice of tiramisu cake and a slice of matcha cake, and an espresso.
While the food was good, the sit down experience was a bit odd. We went to the back to wait for someone to seat us (as per the sign) and it took several minutes for the person in the small room typing on the keyboard to turn around and acknowledge us even though they clearly heard us. We thought maybe she wasn’t the waitress but she eventually turned around and seated us when she was done. And then as we were leaving, we saw another couple waiting to be seated in the empty restaurant while the waitress was working on her computer.
That aside, I did enjoy the soft serve mango cream and will probably stick to getting ice cream to go next time.
I had the strawberry frozen yogurt soft serve. It was a mix of strawberry and vanilla with freeze dried strawberries sprinkled on it. It was absolutely the best soft serve I've ever had in my life. I spent the entire time eating in total shock over how amazing it was.
They rotate the flavours monthly. I'm going to go back every month to try whatever the current flavour is.
I went back and got June's flavour, Pina colada. Also excellent but not quite as perfect as the strawberry was.
July's blueberry and panna cotta was also exceptional.
August's Mango Lassi was good as expected but maybe not as strong as the previous month's. I think it might be better to get just the mango instead of the swirl with frozen yogurt. Also the mango falls off very easily, so make sure you eat that right away! The sidewalk outside is covered in mango slices that fell off people's cones.
Septembers' passion fruit, orange, guava mixed with vanilla is excellent as expected. Super fresh and fruity tropical taste. This might be one where you skip the mix and get just the fruit flavour.
November's apple pie was excellent!
I also tried a double chocolate cookie which was good, but nothing exceptional.

This is one of my favourite brunch spots in the city! Their chicken & waffles is my go to order & we love that we can end our meal off with a sweet treat. Their monthly soft serve is a must but their seasonal waffles with vanilla gelato is great. For fall, we tried the caramel apple butter waffle which was divine. The service is always great!
Absolutely loved our visit to Butter Baker! 💛 I brought my mom to try their new menu, and we were both blown away. I had the Baker’s Breakfast — eggs, crispy potatoes, and toast — all perfectly cooked and super comforting. My mom tried the yuzu chicken and waffles, and let me tell you… those waffles were the best! Gluten-free, buttery, and perfectly crispy — she loved every bite.
We also got to try their desserts: the caramel apple butter waffles were warm, cozy, and delicious, plus a slice of their house-baked banana bread that disappeared in seconds. To finish, we had the berry and custard soft serve, which we devoured even though we were full — totally worth it.
We also enjoyed drinks — I had an iced matcha latte, and my mom got a hojicha latte. Both were smooth and flavorful.
The food, drinks, and cozy vibes make this spot a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back! 🧇🍵🍦
