Butter Baker Market Café
I’ve purchased several cakes from this shop and they’re all perfectly balanced in flavor and not too sweet. I’ve tried the matchamisu, birthday cake, and rose-flavored cake. The frosting is soft, silky, subtly sweet, and never hardens. I haven’t yet found another cake shop I enjoy as much! Around Valentines Day, my partner picked up the rose-flavored cake (pictured) that was unique and delicious. My only critique is I wish you could customize your cake for special occasions. We’ll always go to Butter Baker for our cake needs!

Went here for brunch with my friends- we each ordered 1 dish and shared with each other, and found it was a good amount of food. We ordered the strawberry waffle with ice cream, the honey garlic chicken waffle with salad, and the full breakfast (polish sausage, bacon, waffle and potatoes). The drinks were Hojicha latte and Ube latte. We really enjoyed our drinks, it wasn't too sweet and had the advertised flavors. I did think the Hojicha was a bit grainy on top though. The food itself was fine, my friend is a big fan of the salad dressing (a yuzu vinagrette).
However we all agreed the waffles were lackluster- they fell apart quite easily as if it was gluten free, and was prone to being soggy from syrup/icecream very quickly. Did want to note our strawberries on the waffle were a mix of real fruit and compote. Might come back to try their cakes/croissants but overall for a place that seems to offer multiple waffle dishes, this wasnt it.

If I could give 10 stars, I absolutely would. Five stars for the food, because I am a huge fan of anything Earl Grey flavored, and another five stars for the incredible customer service.
We came in around noon for brunch. After finishing our meal, we ordered an ice cream listed on the menu as the “flavor of the month.” Luckily for me, this month’s flavor was Earl Grey. However, when the ice cream arrived, it turned out to be Berries & Vanilla. Since it was only the second day of the month, we assumed the menu might not have been updated yet, so we were totally fine with it.
We simply wanted to let the staff know about the mix-up and had no intention of asking for anything in return. The gentleman who spoke with us, who seemed to be the owner, apologized sincerely several times. To our surprise, he then brought out a slice of cake and told us he would love for us to try their new flavor, Matchamisu, as an apology.
We were honestly so delighted, and even better, the flavor was amazing.
We will definitely be coming back many more times.

The place was very well lit (might be tooo bright to where we were seated) but there were dim areas too. The food took a little time to be prepared maybe because they had a lot of customers the that time. Please note when you order the crepe I highly recommend you share it with another person because it comes in a big portion and if you eat it by yourself you get tired easily. The strawberry waffle was not the greatest I’ve tried. As you can see in the photo… the compote made the waffle toooo soggy and it was just now very appetizing to eat. The crisp texture of the waffle was gone (maybe they put tooo much compote ) i prefer they put more of the fresh strawberries than the compote because it’s tooo sweet already and on top of that it comes with the syrup! Too sweet. The apple caramel waffle was not bad. But the waffle is not really standing out as I expected. Despite all of the above….I love their cakes and ice cream!!! My family always buy it here ☺️ Highly recommend purchasing their cakes for bdays and parties! Thank you so much for the good service as well! The matcha drink and Jazmine tea was goood!! 💛

This is one of my favourite brunch spots in the city! Their chicken & waffles is my go to order & we love that we can end our meal off with a sweet treat. Their monthly soft serve is a must but their seasonal waffles with vanilla gelato is great. For fall, we tried the caramel apple butter waffle which was divine. The service is always great!
Absolutely loved our visit to Butter Baker! 💛 I brought my mom to try their new menu, and we were both blown away. I had the Baker’s Breakfast — eggs, crispy potatoes, and toast — all perfectly cooked and super comforting. My mom tried the yuzu chicken and waffles, and let me tell you… those waffles were the best! Gluten-free, buttery, and perfectly crispy — she loved every bite.
We also got to try their desserts: the caramel apple butter waffles were warm, cozy, and delicious, plus a slice of their house-baked banana bread that disappeared in seconds. To finish, we had the berry and custard soft serve, which we devoured even though we were full — totally worth it.
We also enjoyed drinks — I had an iced matcha latte, and my mom got a hojicha latte. Both were smooth and flavorful.
The food, drinks, and cozy vibes make this spot a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back! 🧇🍵🍦

I first tried the shoft serve over the summer and was immediately obsessed. When I found out they have a cafe and brunch options I had to visit! The waffles are absolutely incredible. I tried both the savoury and sweet options. Perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Will definitely be back to try more!
I’ve been going here for years and it has never disappointed me. I love the monthly ice cream flavours and they are gorgeous!! The food was amazing. The waffles were so light but also the perfect texture. The syrup was also super light and enjoyable. I recommend everyone to come here
We visited here for a Saturday brunch here and had an amazing time. The moment you enter through the market door, you’re fascinated with all the beautiful handcrafted local goodies. From jewelry, candles, party decorations to home decor and kitchen accessories, they have many cute options.
Their café menu includes many great options from brunch menu to desserts and drinks. They have so many unique and creative cakes, waffles and brunch options. We ordered “Grilled Chorizo Croissant Benedict” and “Spicy Chicken Waffle” from brunch menu, “Mango Waffles & Crème” and “Raspberry & Pistachio Cake Slice” from the desserts menu and finally “Mocha” and “Matchamisu Cold Foam” from drinks menu. Everything was fresh and tasty. The spicy chicken waffle was the great combination of Korean fried chicken and waffles. The Grilled Chorizo Croissant Benedict was unique and flavourful. The Raspberry & Pistachio Cake Slice was one of the best cakes I have ever had; perfect level of sweetness. Mocha was beautifully designed and matchamisu was very creative.
The staff are very friendly and make sure you have the best experience.
Their Chocolate Croissant and Almond Walnut Croissant are not fresh! In-fact, my husband and I had to force ourselves to finish the pastries we bought because they were so expensive!
The walnuts on the Croissant were so rancid, I considered taking my purchase back. They were also odd shape, dry and small (almost as if something went wrong in the preparation and baking process). I do not recommend this bakery and will not return.
We waited for 20 min to find out there is no ice cream and only few pieces of baked goods left. Staff waited on a customer who just walked in and did not wait on line. before waiting on us. Another staff started to take another customer behind us. There should have been a staff directing the line. We walked out without anything.
I live in Florida and was going to Toronto to surprise my brother and sister-in-law for their 70th birthdays, just 3 days apart. I researched bakeries in Toronto and settled on the Butter Baker. I ordered their birthday cake online and asked for it to be delivered to my hotel. The day came and the cake was delivered at the perfect time, nicely wrapped up and all the instructions for color and writing on the chocolate placecard had been followed perfectly. We brought the cake with us to a restaurant and it was probably the most delicious cake I have ever eaten. Everyone loved it! So happy with both their product and their service. You can not go wrong doing business with these people. Only wished that I lived closer to them!
