Maha's Brunch
I'm not sure how the food here got such good ratings...did I miss something? Had lunch here with friends and was hugely disappointed. Yes, the service was good so 1 star for that. We waiting in line for about 15 min until a table was avail. After ordering our food arrived within five minutes. That doesn't say 'made to order' to me. I had the Egyptian egg falafels, hummus and lentil soup. Hummus arrived and was a strange brown color. Chickpeas were undercooked. Everything was over seasoned. The falafel arrived with nasty deep fried homefry styled potatoes. They were overcooked and looked and tasted like they'd been sitting off to the side for a while. Very unappetizing. The falafels were similarly looking and tasting like they were certainly not freshly made. The white sauce that was squeezed all over the dish wasn't good and I tried to scape it off so I could at least taste the food. Ugh. This experience for me was like a bad diner, with deep fried leftover food. I ask the question again, what did I miss? The food was sub-par.
Our first time visiting Maha’s and we’re really looking forward to our next visit. We went on an August Friday morning around 10:00 am and there wasn’t room inside but it was a beautiful sunny day and lots of room on the patio.
I had Maha’s Mind Blowing Chicken and it was amazing. Chicken and vegetables were perfectly seasoned and delicious the depth of flavours was wonderful it was incredibly satisfying and perfect. Portion size was huge so I was very happy to take home leftovers and really looking forward to the second meal. My husband had the Basturma Scramble which was also delicious, wonderfully seasoned and amazing. The belady bread was warm, fresh, fluffy and perfectly chewy. The hazelnut latte was incredibly delicious and chocolatey. The regular latte was also very tasty and flavourful.
The service was welcoming, friendly and attentive.
It was an excellent and delicious breakfast and we’re so happy we were able to experience our first time enjoying amazing Egyptian food. We would highly recommend Maha’s to friends and family.
Wow, what a charming and delicious little cafe run by the nicest people! Everything is tasty, we especially love the banana milk, lentil soup, and baba ghanous. It's in a little quaint area on the Eastern side of Toronto. Definitely worth going out there for this fabulous Egyptian brunch spot!
