No frills limited menu but covers most bases. Golden Star’s ‘Homemade’ grilled burgers are the headliners, and for good reason, they’re awesome. Prices are decent and the staff friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended if you’re craving a really good burger.

Family owned and operated since 1964. Super friendly staff. Fast kitchen.

I can eat here everyday for every meal. The Burgers are so good and charbroiled perfectly. Everything is so fresh and made to order right on front of you. Milkshake are amazing. Very smooth and not too sweet. Beer on tap and wine by the glass available.

Large dining room with a very nice retro feel. It's honestly amazing to be in such a nice atmosphere. Clean facility. Clean washrooms. Large patio. TV to keep you entertained.

Amazing burgers! We ordered the MVP, 6 Buffalo wings, sweet potato fries and deluxe burger combo with poutine. It was a lot of food but was really good! The meat was super flavourful and juicy. The price and the food was great! It's exactly what I would want in a grilled burger. Poutine was very classic, and the wings are pretty good! Definitely coming back here again!

Amazing vibe and preserved vintage feel! Justin the owner took the time to talk to us after learning we came in from out of town. Gave us the history lesson of this family business. So sweet and kind! Highly recommend just for the feeling you get walking in. But also the burgers: AMAZING!!!

Always a pleasure to come here , fast quick, healthy and delicious! The staff is so welcoming and yesterday the persian guy who works there was so nice he personally brought the food to us cause we didnt hear our names and he also wrote such heartwarming and hopeful persian calligraphy for us 💖 thanks guys

Went with a friend who grew up in the neighborhood in the 70's and 80's. First if all, WAY overpriced for the disgusting food. Fries only taste like oil and they are mostly broken ends, the "steak" sandwich is cooked to shoe leather even when offered medium. Hygiene in and around the cooking and seating areas are disgusting with sticky floors and tables. The decor looks original like there hasn't been a cent put into the place since 1964. Won't ever return and will definitely tell friends and to avoid. VERY dissapointed.

I could barely taste the grilled flavor of the meat, and with every bite I tried to pull that flavor out, but it just wasn’t easy — so I can say it wasn’t anything special. As for the drink served in a cup, it didn’t even taste quite like Coca-Cola; you knew it was Coke, but it still felt like something was missing.

There’s a reason this Thornhill stalwart is still going strong even with the neighborhood changing quite a bit, family run, and always friendly.

The burgers themselves are top notch. Every. Single. Time.

And the beef gravy for the fries is a must for me.

I recently went to Golden Star and it was amazing. The customer service was great — the staff were super polite and my food came out really fast. I ordered the Original Cheeseburger combo and the burger was incredible. You can really taste the charcoal, it was cooked perfectly, and everything was fresh. Overall, an amazing spot with rich history and a great place to eat. Highly recommend!

Came for lunch as we were craving an old school style burger and poutine after eating Smash burgers previously.

The burger was exactly what we were hoping for. The patty had a nice crisp on the outside but was juicy. The ability to choose our own toppings was great as well!
The poutine was a good portion size and they do not skimp on the gravy or cheese! There was an abundance and hit all the right buttons. Will definitely be coming back in the future!
