Enigma Yorkville
Truly incredible and unforgettable experience here. The cocktails, wine, food, service, and ambiance were all amazing. I was here with a group of work colleagues. We had the tasting menu and a few bottles of wine. Truly outstanding. This meal alone was worth the trip from NYC to Toronto.
We were at Enigma Yorkville yesterday, and honestly, it was amazing. The food was incredibly delicious, the presentation was beautiful, and the service was very warm and professional. For a Michelin-level restaurant, the prices were actually very reasonable. Everything from start to finish felt special. Highly recommend!
I went to Enigma with my husband for our 3 year anniversary dinner and it was an incredible experience! The food was so delicate and refined. We enjoyed the 8-course tasting menu featuring gougère, tartare, panna cotta, hamachi, foie gras, scallops, lobster, duck, wagyu, rhubarb, wild blueberries, and coffee sponge with cafe sua da ice cream. The ingredients and presentations were so intricate and fresh. The Enigma team definitely considers the terroir and the seasons in what they offer. Chef Sam has Canadian inspirations and effectively incorporated Eastern flavours. Our favourite dishes were foie gras, lobster, the Wagyu with nasturtium hollandaise, the chowder that accompanied the scallops, and the coffee dessert. However, the fat on the duck was slightly under-rendered and chewy. Other than that, our dining experience was perfect from the host, to the sommelier, our servers, the pastry, the food, and the atmosphere, it was an amazing way to conclude our 3 year anniversary together.
Refined Excellence with High-Energy Service
I visited Enigma Yorkville and opted for the 8-course tasting menu. It was a beautifully orchestrated experience with an impressive balance between seafood and meat selections. Each dish felt intentional and well-paced in terms of flavor profiles.
The service was truly excellent, though perhaps a bit too efficient. While I appreciate the staff’s dedication, the attentiveness was constant to the point where we had someone at our table non-stop. A slight "dialing down" of the frequency would allow for a bit more breathing room during my meal.
Overall: High-quality ingredients and technical skill are on full display here.
We recently dined at Enigma and were immediately struck by the enchanting decor. The restaurant is elegantly designed, leaning into a whimsical theme of butterflies and fairies that creates a truly unique and transportive atmosphere. We opted for the à la carte menu, and while there were minor areas for improvement, the culinary execution was impressive.
The Culinary Highlights:
* Nova Scotia Lobster Tail (9/10):
The standout of the night. The lobster was perfectly succulent, paired beautifully with a curry risotto that hit all the right notes of lemongrass and gentle spice.
* Perigord Truffle Gnocchi (9/10): Absolutely delicious and very generous in portion. While the presentation was a bit simple, the flavour was rich and indulgent.
* Vietnamese Coffee Sponge Cake (9/10):
A near-perfect end to the meal. The semi-sweet profile paired wonderfully with the ice cream. My only wish? A slightly larger portion because it was so good!
* Tajima Flatiron Wagyu (8/10):
Superb, melt-in-your-mouth texture. It just needed a pinch more salt to fully elevate the natural flavours of the beef.
* Scallop Crudo (8/10):
Very well-made with a delicate sauce, though a touch more citrus would have provided that perfect acidic punch.
* Prawn & Chips & Winter Leaves (7/10):
Both were solid additions. The prawns had a lovely chili kick and were very soft, while the salad was fresh with a bright, simple dressing.
Service & Experience:
The service was warm and attentive throughout the evening. However, there is a small opportunity for growth regarding "table maintenance." We noticed that the removal of finished dishes could be a bit more synchronized and prompt to keep the dining flow seamless.
Enigma offers a fantastic variety of high-quality dishes in a beautiful setting. With just a few minor tweaks to seasoning and service pacing, it would be flawless. Highly recommended for those looking for a magical dining environment and great seafood!
Had the pleasure of partaking in the 8-course blind tasting menu with my wife in late January 2026 for her birthday. Similar to hearing a movie is good from all your friends, you worry if the experience will live up to the hype. This was our worry but...hype be damned - we were thoroughly impressed with the level of service and quality of food at Enigma. The night started with a delicious amuse-bouche to set the tone and stayed elevated throughout, with some incredibly creative and balanced courses. I'd say 7 of the 8 courses were hits and the other one was not even a miss but just a personal preference. I'd also remark the wine pairing was very complimentary and I was happy I did it. The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and his enthusiasm for how each wine was made and how it paired was a bit refreshing to have. Overall, even though the price dictates that it be reserved for special occasions, I wouldn't hesitate to come back again.
Further: although there was a slight overcharge in between my deposit through OpenTable and the final bill, the restaurant took it upon themselves to rectify it (without being asked) and called me the next day to issue a refund to my card. This was unexpected and appreciated all the same. Solid move.
