Finally tried Mildred’s Temple Kitchen after hearing so much about their brunch. Overall, we had a really good experience, although their famous pancakes didn’t quite live up to the hype for me.

We ordered the Chicken Avo Club, Veda’s Choice, Mrs. Biederhof’s Wild Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes, along with the Cold Brew with chocolate foam and Maple Sea Salt Latte.

The Chicken Avo Club was really good, filling, well-balanced and paired perfectly with the fries. Veda’s Choice was another favourite and a great savoury brunch option. I also really enjoyed both coffees, especially the Maple Sea Salt Latte.

Unfortunately, the pancakes were the one disappointment. I’d heard so much about them, but ours felt quite dry and doughy, and I personally didn’t understand the hype.

That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful, bright, spacious and perfect for brunch, and the rest of our food was genuinely enjoyable. I’d definitely come back, just probably skip the pancakes next time and explore more of the savoury menu.

I can understand why Mildred’s Temple Kitchen continues to be such a Toronto brunch favourite. I used to visit their previous restaurant, Mildred Pierce on Sudbury St., so it’s wonderful to see the experience still feel so memorable after all these years.
I had The Shak, their shakshouka, and it was exactly what I needed after being sick all week — warm, nourishing and full of flavour. The tomato base was savoury and slightly spicy, with cumin and smoked paprika adding a lovely earthy, smoky depth. It came with poached eggs, feta and fresh pita bread. My friend had her favourite Wild Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes, which never disappoint.
We visited during the week, which I love because brunch is much more relaxed, and bottomless coffee is always a bonus!
A special mention to Jack, who took such great care of us. He was incredibly kind, helpful and an absolute pleasure to chat with. Great service can really elevate a meal, and he made our visit even more enjoyable.
The food, service and overall experience were all excellent. We even left with an adorable blueberry pancake sticker! It’s easy to see why Mildred’s has remained such a beloved brunch spot in Toronto.

Veda’s Choice 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The croissant and poached egg sandwich was flawless. I honestly didn’t expect it to be this good. The poached egg was incredibly delicate, and the moment I picked up the sandwich and took a bite, the runny yolk spilled right out. The Béarnaise sauce worked beautifully with it too.

My favorite way to eat it was almost like sukiyaki, dipping pieces of the croissant into the runny yolk before each bite. Absolutely delicious.

Buttermilk Pancake 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨

Now this is what a fluffy pancake should be. The pancakes were wonderfully soft and airy, stacked three layers high with tiny blueberries scattered around like little sapphires.

The blueberry compote added a nice touch of acidity without making everything overly sweet. The maple syrup definitely brings quite a bit of sweetness, so the unsweetened whipped cream was a great addition. My favorite combination was a little whipped cream, a little syrup, and some blueberry compote all in one bite.

Three pancakes are quite a lot for one person, though. I was definitely struggling a little toward the end.

Turmeric Latte 🌟🌟🌟

Pretty much exactly what the name suggests: ginger, turmeric, and black pepper under a thick layer of milk foam. Put them together and you can almost taste the beginnings of an Indian curry.

I found the flavor itself a little uneventful, but a warm latte was still very comforting on a cold day.

Finally had a chance to visit Mildred's today, and it was totally worth the wait!! The avocado toast with smoked salmon on sour dough bread was tasty. But the star of the show was definitely their famous blueberry pancakes. So fluffy, flavourful, and soft. The blueberry compote, complimented by their signature maple syrup was delicious. Every table around us had this. I recommend getting the single stack, so you have room to try another exquisite item off their menu. The turmeric latte, paired perfectly with the meal. What a great first experience, and it won't be the last. ☺️

All the food was yummy! I recommend getting the 1 blueberry pancake as an appetizer unless sweet food is your thing. It's yummy but more like a dessert. We got the chicken and waffle and avocado toast which we loved!
I preferred the biscuit over the scones, but its preference. I used the blueberry sauce from the pancake on the biscuit and that was heavenly!
🐕Dog friendly🐕We were able to sit outside.

Definitely recommend having reservations as we waited an hour, but the food was worth the wait. Our server, Natalie, was very kind and sitting on the patio was beautiful. The pancakes were good, they were more like biscuits than pancakes, and they were very fluffy. The eggs were amazing, very buttery. The potatoes with the garlic aioli was everyone's favorite. I also loved the fresh orange mango juice. Would definitely come back whenever we're in town! :-)

The pancakes were every bit as good as people say. Soft, fluffy, and topped with fresh blueberries and a rich blueberry compote that wasn't overly sweet. Everything tasted fresh, and the presentation was beautiful without feeling overdone. The service was efficient even though the restaurant was busy, and the atmosphere was lively without being too loud. If you're planning brunch in Toronto, this is definitely a place to consider.

The pancakes here are absolutely awesome—easily some of the best I’ve had. They’re incredibly fluffy, soft, and fresh, with a warm, biscuity texture that makes every bite feel comforting and satisfying. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into making them.

On top of the amazing food, the service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The patio is also a huge bonus, especially because it’s dog-friendly. They don’t just allow dogs—they welcome them with treats, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great pancakes and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere!

We had a great experience overall at Mildred’s. We ordered the Avocado Veda and the Blueberry Pancakes, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and definitely lived up to the restaurant’s reputation.

The only reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of 5 is because of the hot sauce charge. When ordering, we asked for a side of hot sauce, but after finishing our meal, we realized the Avocado Veda already comes with its own hot sauce. When the bill arrived, we noticed an additional $2 charge for the extra hot sauce.

To be clear, this isn’t about the $2, it’s about the principle and transparency. It would have been appreciated if the server had mentioned there was an extra charge for an additional side of hot sauce, or simply let us know that the dish already comes with hot sauce and asked whether we still wanted an extra serving. That small conversation would have prevented any confusion or surprise when the bill arrived.

Overall, the food was fantastic, and we’d happily come back. I just hope this feedback helps improve the dining experience for future guests.

Popular brunch place in Liberty Village!! Be prepared to wait, we walked around. Atmosphere was nice and food was good, portions on European side, coffer was exceptional! Our server was very pleasant, hostess seamed too, but she didn't call us earlier for the table as promised, even though there were 3 tabled for two empty. Nevermind we were catching up with friend and it didn't ruin the experience...

Finally made it to Mildred's Temple Kitchen and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The pancakes are incredible and 100% worth all the praise they get — fluffy, rich, and honestly some of the best I’ve had. The avocado toast was also delicious, super fresh and very filling.

One of my favorite parts was the bottomless coffee, which made the whole brunch experience even better. The waitress and staff were all so friendly, attentive, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We came with our dog and were able to enjoy the patio on a beautiful weather day, which made it even more perfect.

The only downside was the wait time — we arrived around 11am and waited about 30 minutes for a table — but honestly, after eating there, I can see why it’s so popular. Overall, definitely recommend coming here if you’re looking for an amazing brunch spot in Toronto.

Pancakes were absolutely delicious fluffy, perfectly cooked, and full of great flavor. The turmeric latte was also a standout: rich, cozy, and not overly sweet at all.

Service was a bit slow, but it’s easy to see why, this place was packed and we still managed to get in after about an hour. Overall, a wonderful experience and definitely worth a 5-star visit!

I have been dining at Mildred's Temple Kitchen on and off for years, and it consistently remains a fantastic brunch spot. The service is always great, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The dining room itself is clean, bright, and spacious, making for a really comfortable environment to sit down and enjoy a meal.
The Food
While I have had other dishes here over the years—like their omelettes and various breakfast plates, which always perfectly satisfy my cravings—their pancakes are the absolute go-to.

Mrs. Biederhof's Wild Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes (9/10):

These are a must-order. They are buttery, fluffy, and absolutely delicious, with a consistently excellent texture. The whipped butter is a great touch that adds a wonderful richness, and the wild blueberries provide a nice, semi-sweet flavour. One thing to note is that the portion is huge, so if you are planning to share, it is a very good idea.

Overall, Mildred’s Temple Kitchen is a top-tier brunch destination. With great staff, a wonderful atmosphere, and food that never disappoints, it is a spot I will happily continue to frequent.
